The One That Let Me Go

Year 2119

"Lucy! At least don't drool on the tables!" My math teacher called out.

Immediately, I sat up wiping my mouth. The students all mocked at me in the background. School was the most boring thing on earth, they constantly taught everything I already knew.
The bell shrieked, causing the whole class the pack up in a panic and run out the door. I was so close to walking out the door and feeling the cool air of the hallways but my math teacher stopped me.

"You young lady, I need to talk with you." Mr. Smith, my math teacher explained.

"Sure..." I sighed.

We walked to his office and as we entered he began to explain why he needed me.

"Lucy, you know you are the smartest student here right?"

"Yeah... So..?" I replied dully, I was in no mood for a talk.

"We are holding a transfer program from the school called Silver Pine and I'd like you to be their guide. They will be graduating at our school and their schedules will be identical to yours for the rest of the years." Mr. Smith tried to make it sound interesting, but was failing due to my lack of interest.

"Why me." I bluntly spat.

"We're hoping... That... One of them could... Seduce you into getting your powers." Mr. Smith attempted to make it sound as nice as possible. "As you know, this school was originally for those who had no powers but throughout the years we have learned that most late bloomers seem to have a substantial amount power... Causing our school to become one of the top..."

Seducers are able to seduce people the opposite gender of them. Every power possessor, including seducers, are ranked into either Supreme, Elite, Major, or Minor. People like me who have no power yet or forever are called Ordinaries. Supremes are very, very rare. They only come up about ten per one million people. Our population is about twenty million people now so we should have about two hundred Supremes roaming the earth. In the category of seducers, Supreme seducers could seduce everyone but other Supremes, Elite seducers could seduce everyone but Supremes and other Elites and so on. Elites were also rare, about one hundred thousand of them every one million people.

"So you want me to get seduced by some stranger, and somehow get my powers." I asked, disapproving of the theory.

"And be their friend and guide!" Mr. Smith tried enthusiastically.

"This is ridiculous." I said under her breath but loud enough for Mr. Smith to hear.

"Well, they're waiting in the classroom right next to us." Mr. Smith continued like he heard nothing.

We headed towards the classroom and Mr. Smith opened the door. He and I walked in and Mr. Smith  introduced me to the group, then introduced the group to me. After that he commanded me to get to class soon with them.

"Well, good luck Lucy." Mr. Smith called out as he left the room.

There were two girls and three boys. Brittney, the stereotypical popular girl, Alice, the small jumpy girl, Justin, the quiet one, Alex, Cayden's mate and Cayden, the seducer. I cursed under my breath, I was pretty sure that Cayden was the Cayden that I used to be best friends with. Cayden, my old best friend, the one that let me go.

"Okay guys, we should get to-" I was cut off by Cayden's deep alluring voice.

"Lucy? Lucy, is that you? Is that really you? It's you right?"

"Well of course it's me, I'm Lucy." I said blandly.

"Lucy!" Cayden called joyously for the first time in nine years.

Cayden brightly broke into smile that melted every girl's heart. He started walking towards me, excitement clearly showing in his eyes.

"What?" I replied.

"Lucy. Lucy. Lucy. It's really you Lucy!" Cayden blurted, exploding with joy.

"Yes... It is..."

I was not understanding his joy. I was not particularly happy to see Cayden, he left me years ago. Like, he didn't even say bye! He didn't even try to save me, he just waved. Cayden was suddenly so close to me, too close to me. I could practically feel his breath grasping for me. 

He wasn't physically touching me, but it made me a bit uncomfortable. I was growing more and more self conscious. I could feel his eyes scanning me, taking in everything I've become. He inhaled the air surrounding me while smiling. At this point he was basically a creep, but I couldn't help but notice his features. Long legs and arms, broad shoulders, perfectly sized hands and feet, he seemed to be sculpted from heaven. His slightly curly brownish black hair was swept to the right, lifting outwards slightly at the ends. 

It was pretty cute. Wait, I did not just call him cute. Yup, no I didn't. I couldn't have possibly called him cute, just his hair was cute... Just his hair...

"Lucy, I..." Cayden trailed off.

"What?" I snapped back coldly.

Cayden's perfect hand reached out to me and headed towards my face. His hand stopped at about a centimeter away from my left cheek. I could feel the heat radiate off his hand on my cheek causing me to back out a bit.

"I'm so happy to see you again Lucy." Cayden said, pained, as he retrieved his hand that had stretched out to touch me.

"Well, to be honest, I'm not that happy to see you here, Cayden." I said, breaking the truth to him.

"Why not?" Cayden asked, stunned and slightly offended.

Cayden blinked innocently, looking deep into my eyes.
 
"You didn't even try to help me."

"But I-" Cayden was cut off by me this time.

"You just waved. All you did was wave."

"Lucy, I didn't know you were going to be gone for so long! If I had known I would have done anything to be with you, I swear."

Hearing his answer made me feel better, but I was still slightly angry at him. From the background Brittney seemed to be constantly glaring at me.

"Really?" I asked Cayden, just to make sure.

"Really." Cayden instantly replied, continuously looking deep into my eyes.

"A touching reunion really." Brittney chimed in sarcastically. "But let's get going to class please?"

"Oh, sorry. Everyone, follow me." I announced apologetically.

I lead them down the hallway, to where a group of people have gathered in front of a classroom.
