Zayn was actually in a few of Louis' classes. They had second, third, fourth, and seventh period together. They still hadn't spoken, but they sit by each other in all of them and they walk together. Subconscious bonding...?

Fourth period had just ended, and they were headed to lunch. Louis sort of expected them to sit together.

Zayn was scrolling through his music and Louis saw he pressed play on a song by Frank Ocean. Louis saw it was Novacane, a song he'd listened to before but didn't know if he liked it.

Louis himself was listening to Kanye West.

They walked through the doors and Louis led to way to his table, where Zayn followed. They sat down, Louis on the end and Zayn to his right.

Louis pulled out a book and his phone, changing the song to his reading playlist. The lunchroom filled quickly, the girls at the other end batting their eyes to Zayn.

"What book is that?"

Louis got himself scared shitless. Zayn spoke. His voice was slow and his accent was incredibly thick. Some of the words didn't make sense to Louis. "Erm- Persuasion by Jane Austen."

The corner of Zayn's mouth flicked into a smile. "I love that one."

Louis nodded with a half smile. He didn't really know how exactly to respond since he had never spoken to the boy before.

They went back to silence, until the team walked in.

They were loud and bouncy, probably because of their win last night. They said that over the intercom. They were acting like wild dogs as they passed.

"You've made a friend?" The dude asked, grabbing Louis' shoulder and squeezing it. "About time. I almost thought you were a loser. Is he your boyfriend?"

"He-"

"No lunch today? Did Mummy not have time again?" He pouted. Louis looked up at Jacob who was staring at his feet. Louis wanted to punch them all.

"I'm just not hungry." He shrugged, flipping a page. He noticed how tense Zayn had gotten.

The group walked off, Jacob dragging behind.

He turned and walked up to Louis. "I'm-"

"Don't say you're sorry. If you were sorry you would have stopped them." He shook his head and shut his book. Louis was honestly tired of him acting like he felt bad but not doing anything to fix it.

"It's not that easy to just make them stop. They'd treat me like they treat you." Jacob mumbled.

"Wow. Okay. So you're selfish too." He scoffed, folding his hands in front of him and looking up into his eyes. He saw sincerity in what he said, but he just couldn't take it seriously.
