"Why do you keep looking at me?"
"No reason! I just... I love the way you look in the sunset."

"Louis, want to come play?" Phoebe knocked on the door, voice small and nervous.
He clanked the bottle down. "Not now. I have homework." He lied, tapping the end of his cigarette on the ashtray.
He heard Lottie's voice. "Come on, Pheebs. He's not going to come play."
Louis started crying again, but chugged the rest of his bottle. He couldn't handle life without him. He couldn't do it.

"You're looking good, Louis." The doctor smiled up at him on the table. "Your back healed nicely, and your vocal cords look pretty stable. Your arm is still in the process though. It was shattered, afterall."
Louis nodded, humming. After his birthday, his throat healing went backwards. It was sore everyday for two weeks. Everyone at school heard about the accident. "When do I get this bloody thing off?" His eyes instinctively went to his palm, making his stomach clench.
"Hopefully next month, if it all goes well." She stood. "Lauren will get you checked out." She led him out to the front desk.
"Just sign this and you can go." Lauren scooted a clipboard over to him.
Louis nodded slowly and grabbed the pen, signing his name next to the date. Louis did a double take. February first. He kept repeating that over and over, as if he didn't know what it was.
He rushed out of the hospital, his ever present limp in his left leg. In that moment, he didn't care where they stood. It was his birthday, and he deserved to be wished a happy one.
Louis and Harry hadn't spoken since December 24th. After Harry kissed Louis, he made it very clear it was a mistake. Harry was the first to begin ghosting, never returning calls and never around when Niall and Zayn called Louis up.
Louis only tried to call until New Year's Eve. That's when his heart really broke.
New Year's Eve at Luke's house:
"Ready?" Zayn pulled down a single strand of hair from his quiff. Both of them were smartly dressed since Luke was throwing a formal party. This was the first party Louis would go to.
He was in a nicely tailored suit that hugged his feminine figure and brought out his bum and waist. His hair was also styled into a quiff, but not quite as God-like as Zayn's. "I guess so."
"Hey." Zayn grabbed Louis' arm. "It'll be fine. Just ignore him and he'll ignore you. I know you don't want that, but it's better than a night full of awkward glancing and jaw clenching at each other."
