And so, that weekend, in Myshuno Meadows, we wed. It was casual, but beautiful and intimate. Just the two of us and the one to marry us. Our sons were our witnesses, and it was settled.I was his, and he was mine. For Eternity. Mi rey. My king.
Kyler approached us. "Congratulations," he smiled warmly. "And jeez, it's about time."
I giggled and hugged him. "Thank you, baby. It is about time." I nudged Marco with my elbow, who laughed.
"So, I told Ambrosia about this," he said, wringing his hands nervously. "She agreed not to come, but offered for Ethan and I to stay with her for a week or so."
I tilted my head. "Why?"
Ethan smiled happily. "You need a honeymoon!"
Kyler nodded with a smirk. "And she kind of wanted to surprise you with these." He held out two boxes. He gave one to me and the other to Marco.
We glanced at each other and opened the boxes. Mine had two round trip plane tickets to Sulani. Marco's had keys to a rental beach mansion on the water.
Ethan hand me a card, sealed in an envelope. "And this is from all of us."
I could barely speak from seeing the gifts already given. "I…"
"Open it!" Ethan held his hands together in a praying position.
I opened it and read the card aloud. "Congratulations, Mama. I'm so happy for you! I know you wanted this to be small, so I shared my support in a different way. You and Marco need this. Wolfy and I will watch the boys. You two enjoy the sun and the start of married life. No refunds. I won't accept the gifts back. Just go! Have fun! Here's a little something else the boys helped me buy."
I held up a prepaid debit card.
"There's more on the back," Kyler explained.
Of course there was. Ambrosia couldn't keep anything short. I smiled to myself and flipped the card over.
"This card has $2,000 on it, ready to be spent how you choose. Oh, and uh...look behind you."
I turned around and saw Ambrosia. She had a beaming smile on her face.
"Oh my God, Ambrosia!" I pulled her into a tight hug. "Thank you so much. You are incredible!"
She giggled. "I'm glad you like it. I was a little worried, but your reaction was perfect."
Marco shook his head with a smile. "You really know how to go all out."
She laughed and hugged him as well. "Congrats. You deserve this. All of it. Now go, have fun. I'll handle the squirts."
We hugged our boys goodbye, thanked Ambrosia at least another ten times and headed to the apartment to pack for the trip.
Once in Sulani, I was taken aback. It was warm, with palm trees swaying in the breeze, the clear blue water glistening in the sunset.
"It's breathtaking," I whispered.
Marco wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my neck. "It's ours for a whole week, mi reina."
I giggled. "what do you want to do first?"
"Eat!" He tapped his belly. "I'm starving."
I nodded. "Great idea."
We made our way through the sandy walkways to get to the restaurant nearby. Sitting down, we were treated to cultural music of the isles, specialty food and fine wine. Marco bought an extra bottle to take back to the lodge to toast to our new lives.
