Lucia opened her eyes.
The sun shining through her windows.
The birds chirped and she heard her mum downstairs, talking on the phone.
Then she remembered.
Lucia instantly looked under her sheets, the bed, in her closet.
Nowhere.
She sighed in relieve.
A dream. This time, she put her hair in a ponytail. As she was about to put on her uniform, she noticed that her skirt had a hole in it.
Great.
There was only one skirt left. Her mini skirt.
How am I supposed to wear that, without getting dress coded?
„Have fun hone-... Oh my. Lucia, who are you trying to impress young lady." Her mum looked her up and down. „My skirt has a hole. I have nothing else to wear." For breakfast, Lucia ate an apple.
„I'm gonna go now."Where are Cynthia and Olivia? They were supposed to wait for her.
When she entered the classroom, it was completely silent. Everyone stopped the things they were doing. All the focus was on her.
Cynthia and Olivia exchanged looks. The girls were looking her up and down, while the boys were smirking and whistling.
Although Lucia liked being the center of attention, this time she felt uncomfortable.
Noah was the loudest.
„Hey babe, how about you turn around for us?"
The boys started laughing. All of them.
Lucia felt ashamed and tried to pull her skirt down as far as she could.
She looked over to Henry. His eyes met hers. He wasn't laughing, neither was he making noises or smirking. When he accidentally looked down on her legs, his eyes immediately turned to his book.
Was he...
blushing?
„Good morning Lucia." Ms. Wilbur gave her a strict look. „Please sit down. And you" She turned to the boys. „If I hear one of you whistle again, I will kick you out of my class."„Let me guess, he didn't show any kind of interest, so you want to use other techniques to get his attention." Cynthia was teasing her. „Shut up."
They were sitting on an bench during the break. „Are you partners for the project?" Olivia asked, while biting into her sandwich.
Lucia nodded. „I asked him. I'm going to his place, after school."
Their mouths dropped. „Girl you have to tell us everything!" Olivia got excited.
„Yea yea, I will."The school bell rang. Lucia was pretty focused on the lesson this time. Even the teacher looked surprised by how many times she raised her hand.
14:30 PM. The time school ends. While packing her things, she noticed Henry already getting out of the classroom.
As she was about to leave the classroom, Cynthia got into her way. They just looked at each other.
„Good luck." Cynthia smirked.
Lucia just nodded and walked past her.
Henry was waiting for her outside, his back turned to the classroom. Lucia tapped on his shoulder. He turned around.
„Let's go", she said, while smiling. It was quiet. Completely.
Neither of them were talking, as they were walking down the road. Henry seemed to be lost in his thoughts. His eyes were on the ground and his hands in his blue uniform jacket.
Lucia couldn't stand the silence any longer.
„So... How is school going?"
He looked like she had torn him from his thoughts.
„Good."
She nodded.
„And, uh.. do you have any hobbies?"
„I like reading."
What a surprise...
„Oh really? What kind of books do you read?"
Henrys eyes widened.
„You would find it boring."When they were about to pass a street, Lucia was too focused on trying to have a conversation. She didn't notice the lights turning red.
„You know, I don't really read boo-..."
Suddenly she felt a big hand on her wrist, pulling her back to the sidewalk.
Lucia frightened. A car was passing the street while honking, nearly running her over.
She was in his arms, his hand still on her wrist. Now they were standing right in front of each other, eyes locked. Lucia had to look up.
She was breathing heavily.
„Th...Thank-..."
„You have to be more careful."
His look was strict.
He then let go of her wrist and started crossing the street.
