The news of Lorena's awakening a miracle. Her mother burst into tears and hugged her for so long. It was a long month of sleep. It was quite overwhelming for Lorena. But she was so grateful to be awake again. The doctor who tended to her previously greeted her, and informed that he will be running some tests and scans to make sure she is alright; get her blood flowing and regain her strength.
They began with simple checkups, allowing Lorena to go with the flow of it; at first, she was reluctant but then followed. Tyler went home and alerted Kathy of the great news. Lorena's mother had discussions with the doctor speaking of her health and where she stands. During the tests, he took notice of Lorena constantly twitching, scratching, and mumbling words like: ''shot, kill, murder, park, bench, man.'' The doctor was concerned and recommended for Lorena to see a doctor for her mental state. ''Now, do not think I am assuming the worst of your daughter. I feel that it may be best for her to attend therapy. She was most affected.''
----
After a few more days in the hospital, Lorena was able to go home. Do some physical therapy, even some therapy sessions, it was best for her to be home. She could take her time coping and regaining her strength. During the time when she was dressing into her lounge wear, Tyler knocked and entered the room. ''Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to see anything.'' He turned his back and felt his face heat with embarrassment. ''You can turn back around. I finished dressing.'' Tyler stiffly turned and then immediately hugged the small girl. ''Thank you for coming back to me... I missed you so much.''
His eyes welled with tears; almost falling. But Lorena beat him to it. She sobbed into his neck; her warm tears streaming, wetting his shirt as well. He held her tightly to him and rubbed her back soothingly. He let his own tears fall and lightly kissed her head. ''I-I was so scared... It all h-hurts.'' Her grip tightened around his chest. ''Don't worry, I'm here. I will protect you no matter what.'' The two held each other a while longer before heading out the room together.
----
Being back at home; it was very foreign for Lorena. She almost forgot what everything looked like and where to find things. She yet forgot she had a dog; a Siberian Husky named Marlo, who jumped at her and was excited to see her. Tyler and Kathy who helped Lorena and her mother home, took their leave, before Lorena asked to speak to Tyler. ''I heard you were there by my side for entire time I was in the hospital. Thank you... for staying with me. You didn't have to do that, but you did. I am thankful.'' Lorena smiled. Tyler smiled back and bowed his head in respect.
Maybe it was too much, or rushed now, but Tyler couldn't hold it any longer. He held Lorena's hand to pull her up, then cupping her face, before capturing her lips to his. It was a small peck, then slowly became passionate yet slow and comforting. ''I'm sorry, I couldn't hold back. I really care about you Lorena. I mean it when I say I will protect you. My feelings have long been growing. With due time, I'd want you to become mine...'' Lorena's face was a deep red and she found herself smiling at Tyler. Before he took his leave, she hugged him warmly before seeing him head down the road.
''May I say: yes, I accept?''
