(Hi updating this again with the Prologue of a story I'll probably never write and that I literally just found😭)
"Mommy were are we going?" Four year old Kellin Quinn asked her mom for what seemed like the hundred time in twenty minutes.
She sighed with a smile and replied, "to the beach baby, I already told you." Then caressed her son's hair softly.
"And how is the beach mommy?" The little boy tilted his head to a side curiously. He really asked a lot of questions for a four year old.
"Well, it is really big." Kellin's mom wrapped her arms around him. "The sky is always blue, the water is crystal clear and the sand on your toes feels soft and warm, also the sun kisses all over your skin and all you want to do is go in the water-"
"Is the water cold?" He interrupted, and she chuckled, then nodded, "sometimes it is, but it's the good cold honey."
Kellin smiled widely, feeling content with his mom's anwers. "How long till we get there mommy?" He asked eagerly. "I want to see the beach!"
"Soon baby, soon."
California.
That's where they were headed.
It had been Mrs. Bostwick biggest dream to someday visit the state and stay there for a while with her family, so when she finally found the chance of buying a cheap, new house on the sunny state, she had no doubts on buying it right away.
It was going to be their summer getaway, or something like that. They planned on going there every summer to enjoy the sunny weather and forget about their busy lives in Michigan for a little while.
It was the perfect plan.
When they finally arrived, Kellin thought the house was weird, but the good kind of weird. He also felt like he was being part of one of those movies you only see on television. Everything was new to him and he was more than excited to be there.
Even though the house wasn't big, it wasn't small either. It was perfect sized for the little family, and it did looked like one of those houses from the movies. You know, those with the beach right across the street, big windows, hammocks and palm trees and all.
It was perfect for them.
Their first week at their new house was spent "making it look pretty" as Mrs. Bostwick would answer her son whenever he asked them what they were doing. They cleaned, fixed, painted and redecorated the whole place. And at the end of the week the house looked brand new. They really knew how to add that little something that made the place feel just like home. And Mrs. Bostwick was extremely proud of hers and her husband's work.
But Kellin's favorite memory from that week was a night he couldn't sleep. It was late, probably ten or eleven and his parents were still painting the living room walls, he knew because he could hear noises coming from the room, noises he instantly recognized as laughter.
He smiled as he walked down the hallway carefully, his stuffed giraffe tugged tightly in his arms. He poked his head from the wall and saw his parents having a paint war, they were running around the room laughing and trying to paint each others already stained clothes.
Kellin couldn't help but giggle at the sight but when he saw his mom dip both her hands on the blue paint can and then make grabby hands at his dad wearing the biggest devilish smile on her face, he couldn't help but gasp and cover his mouth with his hands. Mr. Bostwick tried walking backwards attempting to run away from his wife but it was useless, she grabbed his face and rubbed the paint all over his forehead, cheeks and neck, she laughed as hard as she could but then Mr. Bowstick, who was also laughing, leaned in and captured her lips in a sweet kiss. She put her arms around her husband's neck and smiled in between the kisses.
