𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐔𝐍𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐍 sighed and stood up with raised hands. he swung around slowly, only to meet a pissed norrington.

"elizabeth dear, are you alright?" the governor asked worriedly.

"father, i am. but evelyn's not." she cried out looking at the still unconscious girl.

that caused james to put down his sword, giving the men to another soldier and kneeling down beside evelyn. he put his hand on her face caressing it. tears developed in his eyes while he took his sister and placed her on his lap.

"evelyn love..." he whispered wobbly.

james gazed at evelyn waiting for a reaction. suddenly, evelyn took a deep breath helplessly grasping for air. her eyes shot open looking around scared. she took another breath, closed her eyes, and just listened to the waves crashing into each other, the birds singing and the heavy breathing of her brother.

"im alright." evelyn spoke up easing james.

he helped her stood up and took her into his warm embrace. james gave evelyn his jacket before giving her into the governor's arms who welcomed her calmly.

"commodore norrington, do you intend to kill my rescuer?" elizabeth broke the current tension.

james observed the man still with a sword by his throat. he signalled the solider to let go of him, what he did. norrington extended his hand.

"i believe thanks are in order." he murmured.

the unknown man takes james hand naively. as they shake their hands norrington tightens his grip, pulls the man towards him and tears back the sleeve of his shirt.

recognisable a brand marked onto his skin, a large 'p'.

"had a brush-up with the east india trading company, did you ... pirate?" james cockily said.

elizabeth gasped loudly and evelyn put her hand against her face. everyone was left in shock, especially the girls who just had been rescued by this man.

in a short period of time half a dozen pistols were aimed at the man. he looked around quite a bit dumbfounded.

"keep your guns on him, men. gilette, fetch some irons." norrington yelled satisfied.

as james still studied his arm he noticed something else. below the 'p' there was a tattoo: a small bird flying across the water. james raised one eyebrow.
