When I woke up there was a throbbing in my head. I also couldn't feel my legs. I willed my eyes to open and saw the mess around me. There were car parts all around me with flames threatening dangerously close to my body. The first worry in my mind was if the babies were okay. I don't know if I would make it through whatever happened if I lost my babies. All of a sudden I heard shouting and I thought that the voices were in Italian. My eyes widened as I looked around, suddenly realizing that I didn't know where Alex was.

"Alex! Alex!" I sobbed.

"Alex sta bene, signorina, sta andando all'ospedale" A man called out, telling me that everything was fine and that he was on his way to the hospital.

"Someone help me there's something on my leg! I can't feel my legs!" I called out in Italian.

Someone called back telling them that the emergency services were trying to clear out the car debris. I heard noises coming closer to me and all of a sudden I saw all of the smoke that was billowing into the clear sky.

The man who was clearing out debris and when he spotted me he rushed over to help take the metal off of my legs.

"I'm guessing you speak english?" he asked, fiddling with the metal, taking off the top layer.

"Yes, I speak english." I panted, "What happened?

"A car ran a red light and jackknifed your car, your husband noticed before you and darted out of the way and he and the driver are stable at the moment from what i've heard. Your husband was trying to save you from the debris when he passed out from smoke inhalation. He bumped his head but that's it."

"Look as much as I appreciate you telling me what happened. My legs are starting to hurt like hell and I'd really like to know if my babies are ok." I looked up at him and his eyes were wide.

He called out that he needed more help and suddenly more men piled over and started taking the car parts off my legs.

They had almost taken off the second to last layer when I felt a pressure on my chest and everything went dark again.

When I woke up this time I could smell cleaning chemicals and hushed voices around me. I slightly moved my head but stopped when there was a sharp pain. The voices got louder and it took all my power to slightly open my eyes and when I did it was greeted by Christine, Ruth, Chloe and Violeta's faces.

"Is Alex okay?" I croaked.

"Hi Abbie, how are you feeling? Are the pain meds working yet?" Christine was searching my face for winches from pain and must have found some because she looked even more worried than before.

"I'm fine. Where is Alex and is he okay?" I muttered through gritted teeth.

"Alex is just finishing up in his room, they had to make sure all of the carbon dioxide was out of his system. He'll be in here in a couple minutes." I nodded satisfied with that response. I was about to drift off to sleep when my eyes shot open.

"Are the babies okay? I didn't lose either of them did I?" I looked around to gauge everyones reactions to my question and I was met by their blank stares.

"We don't know yet honey, they want you to be conscious when they do the ultrasound so that you can find out when they do." I could feel tears pooling in my eyes and I couldn't control them when Alex came rushing into the room, a terrified look on his face. He ran up to me and hugged me lightly.

After a minute I pulled back and looked him in the eyes, "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"Hey I'm just fine it's me who should be asking you that, you were the one who was pinned by a car." He placed a hand on my cheek and when I winced from the almost non existent pressure he immediately pulled his hand away.
