[Naomi's Pov]

"Yo, Sanzu, you're late."

"Yeah, had a little problem convincing her."

"Huh? Who?"

Before I could process what he meant, my stomach lurched.

"Blerghhh—" I doubled over, clutching my stomach as I vomited onto the pavement.

"Her..." Sanzu said casually, watching me suffer like it was just another Tuesday.

"What the hell happened to her?"

"Dunno. She's probably dying."

I grabbed a rock and chucked it at his head, but he dodged effortlessly, the smug bastard.

"I swear, I am never riding on your stupid bike again!" I snapped, glaring at him. He just grinned behind his mask like the menace he was.

"Not my fault you didn't hold on tight enough, lil' sis," he said, still smirking.

I huffed in response, brushing the dirt off my clothes before turning my attention to the guy Sanzu had been talking to. I eyed him up and down, unimpressed.

'Yasuhiro Muto. Fifth Division Captain... meh, he doesn't look scary at all.'

"Anyway, this is my sister, Sanzu Naomi," Haruchiyo introduced me with a lazy gesture.

Muto barely spared me a glance before giving a small nod. "Yasuhiro Muto."

"Nice to meet ya, Captain." I saluted playfully, but he ignored it. Tough crowd.

"Let's go. Mikey's about to start the meeting," Muto added, and Sanzu motioned for me to follow.

It was only then that I noticed where we were. My eyes widened in horror.

Oh shit.

We're at the Musashi Shrine…

Which means…

I looked up.

The stairs.

The goddamn stairs.

I groaned inwardly.

•••

"Bloody hell…" I wheezed, hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath.

"You really need to work on your stamina," Sanzu said, completely unaffected.

"Shut up," I muttered between gasps.

"Sure. Just wait here until the meeting's over."

"Wait, what? You're just gonna leave me here!? What if someone kidnaps me!?" I exclaimed, loud enough to catch the attention of the other guys around us.

Sanzu pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed before smacking me lightly on the head.

"Ow! Itaaaiii!" I rubbed my head, looking at him with teary eyes.

"Stop being dramatic, you idiot. And lower your voice."

'Teehee :3'

"Sanzu, is there a problem here?"

Both my brother and I turned toward the voice.

There he was.

The Invincible Mikey.

Aka Sano Manjiro.

I let out an impressed whistle, straightening my posture as Sanzu gave a slight bow.

"Boss," my brother greeted him.

I shifted my gaze to the tall guy beside him.

Draken.

Aka Ryuguji Ken.

Hella tall.

"Ack—"

A sudden jab to my stomach made me wince. I shot a glare at Sanzu, silently demanding an explanation.

Before I could retaliate, Mikey spoke.

"Who's this?"

"She's—"

"Sanzu Naomi," I cut in with a sly grin. "It’s an honor to finally meet the great Invincible Mikey everyone keeps talking about~"

Mikey narrowed his eyes slightly, and Draken looked equally unimpressed.

Then—BAM—a sharp pain shot through my skull.

"Ow! What the hell!?" I yelped, clutching my head. I turned to my brother, my eyes watering from the sheer betrayal.

"I told you to stop," Sanzu said, exasperated. He then looked at Mikey. "Sorry about her. I brought her along because she’d probably do something stupid if I left her home alone."

"Hey! What’s that supposed to mean!?" I shot back, offended.

A few of the guys around us snickered.

Mikey chuckled. "I didn’t know you had such an interesting sister, Sanzu."

"Yeah, she’s a pain in the ass," my brother deadpanned.

I gasped, placing a hand over my chest in mock betrayal.

Huffing, I turned back to Mikey, who raised an eyebrow at me. Without thinking, I stepped forward, grabbed both of his hands, and held them tightly.

The entire area fell silent.

Mikey looked startled.

Sanzu looked done.

The rest of the gang? Staring.

Draken’s brows shot up. "What are you doing?"

"I want you to fight m—"

BAM—another smack to the head.

"Ow! Why do you keep doing that!?" I let go of Mikey’s hands and cradled my head. "What if my head just falls off one day!?"

Sanzu smirked smugly. "That would be great."

I stared at him, betrayal level: unlocked.

With a dramatic huff, I collapsed onto the ground, sulking. The guys around us seemed taken aback, while Sanzu just rolled his eyes.

"I knew it… I must be adopted," I sniffled. "You don’t love me at all."

Sanzu sighed, rubbing his temples. "I can’t deal with your shit anymore."

The others exchanged glances, sweatdropping.

Draken leaned toward Mikey and muttered, "She’s… something."

Mikey nodded, lips twitching upward. "Yeah. I think I like her."

I perked up at that. "See, Sanzu? Mikey likes me. Maybe I should be his sibling instead."

Sanzu grabbed me by the collar and dragged me away before I could say another word.

"Meeting first. Bullshit later," he grumbled.

I waved at Mikey and Draken as I was unceremoniously hauled off. "See ya later, boss~"

Mikey chuckled. Draken sighed.

And Sanzu?

Regretting every single life choice that led him to this moment.
