[Naomi's Pov]
"Mikeyyy," I whined, tugging at his arm like a stubborn child.
The said boy stood his ground, arms crossed, sulking like an overgrown toddler. No matter how much I pulled, he refused to budge. It was seriously frustrating because all I wanted was to wander around, but nope—Mikey had decided to be a statue.
'Those four left me... I'll make Koko dig four graves later.'
I sighed and turned back to him. "What I said earlier is true..." I started, hoping to lighten his mood.
Big mistake. His pout deepened. 'He's really upset about it... I thought my joke earlier had lightened the mood, but I guess not.'
Panic instantly set in. "I-I mean! Yeah! But you haven’t even courted me, so w-we—"
"If I court you, would I have a chance then?" Mikey cut me off, his intense gaze locking onto mine.
'Ack—what did I just get myself into?! This is too fast!'
"I—uh, well, I mean, it depends—"
Once again, I got cut off, this time by Mikey grabbing both my hands and staring at me with sparkling eyes that screamed mischief.
"So, I have a chance then?" he asked eagerly, tightening his grip on my hands.
"I—well, it's—"
"Alright then! I’ll make you fall in love with me!" he suddenly declared, his voice full of determination.
"Wha—??" I stared at him, utterly dumbfounded, my brain still buffering.
He grinned at me like a little kid who just got his favorite candy, then let go of one of my hands only to intertwine the other with his.
I felt my face heat up. "L-Let go..." I mumbled, looking away.
"Nope! Now, let’s go find something fun to do, Nao-chin!" He beamed and started dragging me along.
'Ahh... Bloody hell, what is this?' I thought, dazed, as I let him pull me around like a lost puppy.
—
After a few rounds of playing arcade games and eating way too much street food, we found shelter under a tree when an unexpected downpour ruined our fun.
I shivered slightly as the cold wind blew against my damp clothes. Looking up at the dark sky, a weird feeling settled in my gut. 'Why do I feel like something bad is about to happen?'
Suddenly, I felt hands firmly grasp my shoulders, making me jolt.
"You're shivering, Nao-chin," Mikey said, leaning in so close that I could see every detail of his face.
A blush crept up my cheeks. "I-I'm fine! Don't worry!" I stammered, forcing a smile.
Before he could say anything else, his phone rang. He sighed, letting go of me to answer it.
As soon as he stepped away, I instinctively wrapped my arms around myself. 'Why do I feel colder all of a sudden...?' I immediately shook my head, scolding myself internally. 'Bloody hell, what am I even thinking? I must be going crazy.'
I turned my attention back to Mikey, only to notice his expression darkening. His usual playful demeanor disappeared as he gripped his phone tighter.
I tilted my head. "Did something happen?"
"Ken-chin got attacked," he said, his tone sharper than usual.
I froze, staring at him. "...Is Draken okay? Was it Peh-yan?"
Mikey exhaled heavily. "Yeah. It was Peh-yan, and it looks like he teamed up with Moebius." His jaw clenched as he looked up at the sky. Then he turned to me. "I don’t know what happened to Ken-chin yet, but I’m heading there now to help. Will you be alr—"
"Go," I interrupted before he could finish. "I'll be fine. Don't worry. Just go help them." I shot him a reassuring smile.
His tense expression softened. He stepped closer, bent down slightly, and—
Planted a kiss on my forehead.
My brain completely shut down.
"I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice unusually gentle. "I’ll make it up to you next time." Then, before I could react, he turned on his heel and sprinted off into the rain.
I stood frozen under the tree, my face burning.
"That damn idiot... he's driving me nuts," I muttered, covering my face with my hands.
—
About five minutes later, I finally gathered my composure—only for it to be shattered again when I spotted Mikey running back toward me at full speed.
I blinked. "What the—"
"I FORGOT MY BIKE!" he shouted, skidding to a stop in front of me.
"...You what?"
"My bike! I forgot I parked it on the other side!" He grinned sheepishly.
I deadpanned. "You're telling me you just had a dramatic exit, ran into the storm all cool and heroic—only to realize you forgot your damn bike?"
Mikey chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Well, when you put it that way..."
I groaned. "You absolute moron."
He winked. "Your moron."
I felt my soul leave my body.
"JUST GO ALREADY!" I shouted, shoving him away.
He laughed loudly before finally taking off—this time, actually remembering his bike.
I sighed, shaking my head. "That damn idiot..."
Still, as I watched him disappear into the night, a small smile tugged at my lips.
Bloody hell... I think I really am going crazy.
