*Xyla's POV*

My eyes shot open at my sudden consciousness, I found myself in the middle of a large body of water. Confused as to how I got here, I tried to swim to the surface to scope my surroundings. A sharp pain shot through my arm and I hunched over at the heat waves of pain, unknowingly allowing water to fill my lungs.

Ironic how it burned as though I drank fire, how I choked as water began to fill the one place in the human body it should not be. I began to panic, ignoring my shoulder in my desperate attempt to surface. However, I only seemed to sink deeper, losing the hope I once held.

After a while of fighting and choking on water, I abandoned the idea of surviving and granted the water full access to my lungs. Never in my life had I imagined I'd drown, I had always been good to water, it was my haven. As my lungs filled with water, the pain started to fade away. I guess it was doing me justice by killing me painlessly.

I'm cold.

It felt as though it were winter, needles prickling my skin. I curled up in a ball attempting to warm myself but the movement only made me colder.

I'm tired.

My blinks became longer and longer until I closed my eyes only to find I lost the strength to reopen them.

Does it always take this long to drown?

I thought of my life as I waited, I don't want to die, today was the day my life changed. I'd become Theta, I wouldn't have to lie anymore, and I could face my friends with a clear conscience. I don't want to die.

"Then don't"

Great, now I hear voices in my head.

"Open your eyes child," the voices said.

"Wake up"
"Wake up"
"WAKE UP," they suddenly screamed.

I jolted up surveying my surroundings, familiarizing myself with my room. A little messier than I remember leaving it but that was clear to me why once I made eye contact with a very concerned Irene and Aura walking out of the bathroom brushing her teeth.

"Are you ok," Irene said checking my temperature.

"Yea, I just had a bad dream," I said swatting her hand away.

"You're crying," Aura said sitting on the other side of the bed. I lightly lifted my hand to search under my eye for tears, shocked when I felt the warm liquid she had mentioned.

"Well, it was a sad dream," I faux smiled. "What are you guys doing here."

"Taylor called us after he took you to the Theta, we agreed to bring our stuff here and spend the night with you," Aura said standing up.

"Yea it's 8 o'clock now," Irene said also standing to her feet, "we already took our showers."

"8!?," I quickly stood, "I take forever to do my makeup and I still have to shower and do my hair." I was now speed walking to my closet, the announcement starts at 10.

"I got your hair, don't worry," Irene said patting a bag she had beside her.

"And I want to do everyone's makeup," Aura jumped with excitement before returning to the bathroom. I relaxed a bit knowing I had help but I still insisted on moving fast.
