On the next day of Li Min's murder, Chu Shuzi sat at professor Shen Wei's desk carrying the investigation process. The last one to interact with the victim was this professor.
So Chu Shuzi looked intently at the blank expression of the man and tried to decipher his reaction even at the slightest bit when looking at the gruesome picture of the dead body.
"Li Min... was a good student. With proper guidance, she had a bright future ahead. The little interaction I had with her, she is good at heart too." The professor stated in a somewhat flat tone while his eyes flashed a bit of sorrow that could have been missed.
"What was the last interaction with her?"
"She submitted a well researched paper. So I intended to encourage her more and give some pointers to improve. She was in my last class. So I called her at my office to talk."
"Where were you afterwards?"
"At library."
Chu Shuzi looked at him closely to see any kind of possible twitch in his face and asked the next question, "Where were you at the time of murder?"
The man looked at him with the same blank look before asking, "May I know the time of the kill?"
Chu was startled, then scowled, "Why?"
"So that I can provide the exact and proper information for you."
After the questionnaire, Chu got up from his seat, "You know... For a mere university professor, you are too collected facing this kind of situation."
The man blinked twice. Chu Shuzi shook his head at the innocent expression and went out. This man is a mystery to solve for ... may be another day..-----------
In a silent room Zhao Yunlan went through the soft copies of report sent to him. He is the chief investigator for the consecutive murders in Dragon University. On the first kill, he had a hunch that it's not a simple revenge kill as people generally thought. On the second one he had it proved right. But the department thought this is a case of serial kill which he thinks is not the case. And his hunch always proved him right. Here is the third kill already.
The killer uses the same method for every one. A heavy hit on the back of their head, then several stabs and right hand almost minced which leads to excessive blood loss and death. Victims must have passed out on the first hit. But there's no similarities between the victims. First one was a buff guy, second one was a puny nerdy guy... and third one is an average girl. What can be the motive for the kills?
Yunlan scratched his head irritated. Can't this guy be more elaborate? Also it doesn't help that their is no footprints. It seems, somehow the killer has found a way to conceal even his footsteps.
He went through the list of 'last met' people of the victims.
"Uh...this...", He stuttered to himself. Why is this professor on every list? That too on top?
'Oh Lord' He scrunched his nose, "Please don't let the professor be a killer. I really want to pursuade this guy. He has such long legs. It would look good if they are..."
'Okay... Let's not go there for now..'
He closed the device sighing to himself. Anyways, he is going to act on his hunches again. He can't let another person die.--------------
It was a dark room with several spotlights. A guy wrapped in black clothing silently looked at the three pictures pinned on the board. They are the youths recently killed in the university. His eyes held agony which turned to fury in a few seconds. A heavy punch landed on the wall beside before he clutched his own hair. His heavy breath resounded in the silence.
If only...... If only he watched them closely..... If only he got alert enough.... If only he was attentive enough to his surroundings... At least one youth could been saved.
The guy exhaled a laboured breathe and slumped on a couch. His long fingers clenched on the edge of the table. There was sternness in his eyes. What's gone, can't be revived. But he won't let any other youth die untimely. He just has to work through a carefully weaved plan and stay out of radar in process.
He can do this. He's doing it for years now.
