Ch 1 - What the hell dude?

It was finally Friday and the first night of summer.

Kendal had just arrived at her boyfriend Scott's house party with her two friends Amber and Vicky.

There were a mass amount of people crowded in the hallway, holding red cups and beer bottles. She didn't even recognise a few people because they were all over eachother.

Amber and Vicky abandoned her in the hallway so they could find some drinks and a few other people they were suppposed to be meeting there.

She felt someone's arms wrap around her waist. It was her boyfriend Scott. She wasn't happy being with him, at all. All he seemed to want was sex.

She wasn't going to tell her friends that, they were the main reason she was in this relationship. Amber and Vicky along with the help of Scott's friends had planned to set the two of them up for months.

Scott backed her up against a free wall. He started moving his cold hands up her skirt, she started wriggling about but he grabbed her tighter. She tried screaming but he pushed his lips onto hers.

The next thing she knew, he was suddenly pulled off of her and was lying on the floor being beaten up by some kid with blond hair.

"What the hell dude?" she said starting to cry.

"Leave right now, I'll be out in a minute" the guy with blond hair said with anger in his voice and a stern look on his face.

She knew he was being serious, so she left, people staring at her and tears streaming down her face. She felt bad for ditching her friends but she knew she'd regret it if she stayed.

Once she was outside she sat on the hood of Scott's mini and stared out into the distance.

She heard the door slam shut 10 minutes later. It was that kid with blond hair. He was wearing black skinny jeans, a tank top that said santa cruz on it and black converse.

He had pale skin, his blond hair was quiffed to perfection, he had amazing blue eyes that shone like stars and a black lip ring. He was pretty cute.

"You okay?" he said with a more calm and soothing voice this time.

She turned around to nod, then looked back into the distance.

"What're you doing with an asshole like that?" he suddenly blurted out then covered his mouth after realising what he just said.

"Our friends set us up" she slammed her fist on the side of Scott's car, then shook her hand around in pain, wincing.

"Woah calm down!" he said, "I'm Luke by the way" he then said, playing with his lip ring.

"Kendal" she sighed, sounding quite fed up of all this bull shit.

Suddenly, Luke grabbed her hand and lead her out of the street. She was completely shocked, who did this guy think he was, holding her hand like a little kid and he didn't even know her.

It was just going on 8pm as they walked down a nearby pier. Kendal thought she should be heading home, but then realised Luke was still holding her hand. She didn't want to seem rude by letting go, so his firm grasp remained around her hand.

They went up to a nearby stall and Luke bought them a soda each. "You really didn't have to do that back there, you know" she half smiled.

"Yeah, I did" he couldn't look back at her, as they continued to walk down the pier, still holding hands. She couldn't believe her self for thinking this, but she thought it was pretty cute.

They stumbled across a carnival that was in town, Kendal looked at Luke with puppy eyes, he sighed and they ran in, STILL holding hands.

"What were you doing at that ass's party?" Luke finally asked as they walked around the carnival.

"Well, he WAS my boyfriend" she emphasised the word 'was'. "And my friends just wanted to go to get wasted" she continued. "And why were you there?" she then asked with wide eyes.

"I dont even know to be honest, I think my cousin knows the guy?" he sighed, tightening his grip around Kendal's hand.

The whole way round the carnival, Luke was staring at Kendal and she didn't even notice, until they got on the ferris wheel. She cought him staring, he turned away and gazed into the stars.

She thought about resting her head on his shoulder, but thought it would be too weird. Then again, they were holding hands and they only knew eachother for 45 minutes, she went with resting her head on his shoulder.

He looked down at her, his eyes twinkling like stars, smiled and squeezed her hand.

Once the ride came to an end they stumbled off laughing. Luke lead her down to the deserted beach.

It looked so much better at night, the moon shinging on the water and the cool breeze blowing through the strands of grass.

They sat down together in the sand, Kendal didn't care if she got covered in sand.

She was with a boy that genuinely seemed to care about her, that wasn't her brother or dad.

*Ping* Kendal had recieved a text.

It was from Amber, it said 'Hey girllll, where r u? u r missin out on some rlly kl shit, vicky just did body shot off scott, omg they r makin out, so srry xx:('

"Shit, looks like Scott doesn't care that I left" Kendal sighed and rested her head on Luke's shoulder.

He sighed too and tightened his grip around her hand, she finally felt at ease with him.

It was going on 9.30pm and it was a 45 minute drive back to LA from the valley, she also told her mom that she'd be back for 11 even though she had her own place.

"Shit, I should be going now, it's a 45 minute drive back to LA from here and Amber's my ride and she's not leaving Scott's" Kendal started panicking.

"Don't worry I'll drive you" Luke smiled.

Kendal let out a sigh of relief and they left the beach, holding hands.

They walked back up to Scott's street where Luke's car was parked, they climbed in and drove down the freeway.

"Hey, how come I've never seen you around before?" Kendal asked curiously.

"I'm here for the summer with my 3 mates, writing music and stuff" Luke explained.

"You write music?" Kendal sounded more shocked than she should of.

"Yeah, we kinda suck at it" he sighed.

"I'm sure you don't" Kendal rested her hand on Luke's free hand and he grabbed it tightly.

They finally got back to LA, Luke stopped infront of Kendal's apartment. "You still have to tell your mum when you'll be back and you have your own place?" he laughed with his amazing Austarlian accent.

"Yeah, until I'm 18 which is on Tuesday" she sighed. She gave him her number, she had to after all he had just done for her, he thanked her and gave her his.

"Where are you guys staying?" she asked as she opened the car door.

"About 10 minutes away from here" he smiled.

Kendal nodded and got out of the car, she waved Luke off as he drove out of the street. She sighed and walked into her lonely apartment.
