It's Peyton's first day at her job. And she woke up to the other side of her bed empty. Which was normal. Except for the fact that last night she went out drinking. And brought a stranger home. Which obviously was a bad idea, cause now she's a little hung over on the her first day at her new job. Today was kind of a big deal. It was going to be her first day officially as Doctor Peyton Hartford.
She sat up, and glanced down at her watch to see it's almost time for her to start getting ready. After she showered, she walked through her apartment into the kitchen. Where she made her dog, Zazu, eggs, and herself coffee, pancakes, and bacon.
Zazu is a black shih tzu, that she got a little over seven years ago. He's eight, almost nine. She's had him since he was one. He hated to see her go, even though he wouldn't be left alone for long until Peyton's sister Stacey would come over to dog sit.

Peyton listened to Chief Webber's speech as they walked that halls of the hospital...It felt like the first day of high school all over again. In the locker room it wasn't hard to notice that there was only a hand full of woman. Peyton tried to ignore the man that staring at her...It was her previous one night stand. They made eye contact but she decided to ignore him. Residents started calling their interns. Peyton waited until she heard her own name.
"Yang, Stevens, Hartford, Grey, and O'Malley."
She joined the group, when a woman with jet black turned to her "I'm Cristina Yang." She introduced her self. "Peyton Hartford." She said giving a pleasant smile. Then the blonde standing beside Cristina, "Meredith Grey." she introduced herself, giving a smile.

Peyton was assigned to a Doctor Shepherd. She hadn't met yet, she spent most of her checking up on patients and charting. While she was writing in one of the patients charts, when a man came up beside her. "God, I hate nurses." She ignored the man.
The man glanced over at her realizing the young woman was familiar. "Oh, Peyton right? You're with the Nazi? I'm with Jeremy." He said trying to start a conversation. He started again, "Y'know the other night..."
"Well it was nice. But I don't think it should happen again. Personally, I just like we should just be friends." She admitted...Truth is that now that she's sober. She comes to the realization that Alex is not her cup of tea...romantically. Thinking the night over, they had more of a friendly connection.
She then sent the man a friendly smile, before turning around to leave him there. But she then bumped into a man with brown hair and piercing blue eyes, which knock the papers in her hand. And she and the man exchange sorry's as he helps her pick up her papers. The man glances at her coat, "Doctor Hartford, I've been looking for you." He said.
"Oh, you must be Doctor Shepherd." She said gathering her last couple of papers. "Yes , I, um, need you to over look a patient. She just had a seizure." He informed the younger brunette.
"Um, okay," She stood there as he fills her in some more on the patient.

Once Dr. Burke announced who was rewarded with the appendectomy surgery. George O'Malley, the recipient of the rewarded appendectomy, failed the surgery. And was now being called 007. She felt bad for him. Although she and Meredith and Izzie tried to convince him otherwise. "No one is calling you 007, Georgie." Peyton said in a calm tone, using the new nickname she gave him.
"Murphy whispered 007 on the elevator and everyone laughed." He explained.
"He wasn't talking about you." Izzie assured.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Would we lie to you?" Meredith asked.
"Yes."

Peyton spent all of her shift trying to figure out what was wrong with Katie. She was doing so much research, that she didn't hear the door to the office she was in open. "Doctor Hartford, how far have you gotten?"
"I,um, I've looked to see if anyone's ever had the same symptoms as Katie. No ones has ever had the same symptoms as Katie. They've had similar but not the same. And from what I gathered it could be possible that Katie is 1 in a million." She explained, nervously.
He nods his head understandably, processing what she just said. "Let's go." He said before leaving, making the young woman jog to catch up to him. "Where are we going?" she asked blindly following the man. "We're going to see if Katie's one in a million." Derek glanced at the girl.
After putting Katie through some more test, Derek was able to confirm that she was in fact one in a million. And he ultimately chose Peyton to assist on Katie's surgery. After the surgery, Peyton was entering the elevator to go home. When at the last moment before the elevator doors close, someone holds their hand in between the doors getting the door to reopen so they could enter. And in walks, Doctor Shepherd. The stood there in silence for a few moments. When he broke the silence, "So...How long have you been in Seattle?"
"Um, not very long. A couple of months." She nodded.
"Oh, you're not from here?" Derek quirks a brow.
"Nope. Born and raised in New York." She confirmed.
"Me too...Uh, would you wanna go on a ferry with me? I know it's a odd ask but I haven't been on one since I was home."
"Yeah, actually, I didn't even know that Seattle had a ferry." She shrugged.
They left the hospital and ultimately they caught that ferry ride together. They spent the time getting to know each other. And they surprising shared some personal information while reminiscing on back home. They had shared a connection talking about New York.
