warnings: violence/fighting/weapons

as skilled as you were (made to be by your father) with bow and arrows, you preferred using a knife. it was more efficient in many ways. you never had the struggle of running out of arrows, you didn't need to carry around a massive bow and quiver, it's lighter, it's quicker, it's easier. it was easy to smuggle a knife. easy to keep safe and hidden. that made missions easy.

well, missions.

they weren't necessarily assigned to you directly, you just took it upon yourself. sure, occasionally-very often-it ended you in some-a lot- of trouble. however, it was worth it...sometimes...

right now, not so much.

you were in a tree. fun.

how you ended up here was a funny story, actually.

you felt unwanted. your dad had never let you go on your own mission-like actual mission. so-as per usual-you went through his study thing (he isn't actually that professional. he literally watches cartoons and spells out words with spaghetti-) and found a folder with the shield logo on it. so, you decided to open it-as literally anyone would-and it was a document about this leftover hydra base or whatever. it seemed inactive so there was no immediate danger-which was why no shield agents had got to it beforehand.

long story short, your dad and the avengers fought this metal guy (who was lwk pretty fit) in sokovia a few months back and hydra and shit were all there and they had bases and stuff. it was said that shield had gotten rid of all of them but they clearly fucking didn't. there could be countless that they didn't know of.

fucking hydra.

you hated them.

obviously.

you scoffed at the mere thought of them, twirling your knife between your fingers. the distant sound of rustling brought you back to reality. your head snapped up, suddenly alert. funnily enough, the fuckers were right in your sight. you waited for them to get closer, knife at the ready. as soon as they approached the tree you had took shelter in, you jumped down, tackling one to the ground and slicing another's cheek-sending them to the floor.

you disarmed one of them and used their gun to push them back into a tree. you couldn't kill anyone. that would make your dad mad.

one of them threw up their hand, trying to smack you down or something. you grabbed their arm and bent it back, kicking their jaw upwards - at least breaking a tooth and their nose.

there were three left. two of which were trying to get you from behind. you took your knife and took one down-accidentally slicing their throat in the process (whoops). the other was able to get a hit on you-leaving a gash on your arm.

you didn't seem bothered by it. natasha had always told you to never show any form of emotion in a fight. it could give your opponent the upper hand, which was something you'd never allow.

one left.

fun.

now you were angry. one of the bastards had got you. the cut was pretty deep too.

they pointed their gun at you. quickly, you were able to grab it and smack them in the nose with it. taking a pistol from on of the others bodies, you shot them in the arm. they hissed in pain and you kicked their abdomen to shut them the fuck up.

surprisingly, the others stayed down. suspecting something, you checked their breathing. they were all knocked out. cold.

you were pretty shocked to be honest. that seemed pretty quick. for trained hydra agents, at least.

a gust of wind made you alert again.

you armed yourself with a couple of their guns and put it in your belt-knife at the ready again.

a blue flash zoomed past you. thinking you were going insane, you looked around. there was no one in sight.

and there it was again.

"you shouldn't be here." a thick russian accent sounded from behind you.

russian.

fuck.

you breathed in, poising yourself in preparation. this guy was fast. so you had to be too.

"shouldn't i?"

without giving the mysterious guy a chance to answer, you turned on your heel, lunging foward. your knife brushed his chest. when you looked back up, he was gone. you didn't see that coming.

before you had the chance to look around for him, a familiar voice called out your name.

"dad, it was a mistake..."

sorry it's short and it's kinda a cliffhanger. it's just bc it's the first chapter-i'll make them longer (and hopefully better) in the future.
