I woke up the next day and the first thing I felt was guilt.

I didn’t even give Fidel a goodbye. I doubt she wanted one anyway I had been a donkey to her just days before.

I sighed getting up. It was early.

I stood up and my feet hated me. 

I growled and summoned shoes for myself.

“I hate the dew.”

I walked over to where Absentis had been and I spotted him.

“You awake.” he said his eyes were closed.

I smiled.

“Well yeah. When you’ve had nightmares you don’t particularly want to go back to bed.”

He opened his amber eyes and they were glowing.

He smiled at me.

“Yeah, nightmares aren’t my favorite either.”

I looked at him.

“Side effect of your powers?”

He looked at me confused.

I gestured to my eyes.

“Oh yeah- that why I close my eyes. They go pure white and begin to glow. That’s why I began to close them when I used my powers.  It scared people. I didn’t mean to scare them. Soon it just started to stick. I never wanted to use my powers again. But you came along and something changed.”

I looked him right in the eyes.

“What changed?”

His expression softened and he dropped his gaze.

“I found something to use my magic for.”

I smiled at him. I put an arm around him.

“My powers have side effects too.”

He looked at me a bit shocked.
“There is no way.”

I nodded and smirked.

“Yeah.” I looked towards the path. “There is a way.”

“Well are you gonna tell me or am I gonna have to pry it out of your luscious lips.” he said smirking at me.

“Haha don’t make me kiss that smirk off your face.”

He began stuttering again.

“Alright, I’ll tell you.”

He hopped off the rock and sat on the ground.

“Pretty sure id be haunted if you sat on the ground right now.”

I smiled at him.

Something fell from the sky and dripped down my face.
“Uh-oh,” I said as I pulled my hood over my head.

The rain came pouring in seconds.
