Taking a deep breath, Phantom finally stepped out, the tip of his shoe touching the sunrise's light right as it began to creep into the abandoned building.
Spring and Frost held in their urge to watch and cheer their timid comrade as they busied themselves packing up their supplies. Weaver, Link, and Golem had gone to grab breakfast and extra food for the long road trip to Genovia City.
Whisper watched from across the sidewalk, waiting for her faithful friend who slid his foot slowly forward until the whole shoe was covered in sunlight, the beams slowly creeping up his leg as he tensed up.
"Keep coming," Whisper coaxed, smiling at him as he came so far in so little time, finally moving his second foot forward, both now bathed in light. "Good job," Whisper praised, stepping forward so her shadow covered his legs and soon he disappeared completely, finding comfort hiding under her coat again.
Lora took that as her cue to showoff her improvement, picking up a leaf that was left from what was left of their beds and rooms and watching it go aflame.
Almost the polar opposite of Frost, Lora can overwhelm organic objects with energy until they combust. Though it was only small things like leaves, grass, and maybe human flesh.
Whisper scanned the room, satisfied with their cleanup job. It looks still abandoned, and the ARC surprisingly haven't located them. They were thrown off by the stolen car, and with all the chaos they couldn't keep track of Spring or Golem when they walked to and from the park.
Nothing worked in the ARC favor.
"Alright," Whisper clapped, getting the attention of the other two who gathered together the rest of their stuff to put in the van, "Let's get to Ten's."
The drive was calm, just Weaver cruising as Whisper gave her instructions on how to get to Ten's Motel. An old motel just outside of Genovia City known to house runaways and figures of varying levels of sketchiness. The other vans were arriving one at a time there, checking into one of the many vacant rooms.
All waiting for Whisper.
"So what are we going to do when we get to Genovia?" Link voiced what they were all wondering. Their operation at Los Paraiso was mere child's play compared to the scale of Genovia City, considering the pure size of the underground facility that holds thousands of people.
"We'll split into teams again," Whisper began, quieting the radio so everyone can hear her clearly, "Frost will take the key and go to the 6th level of the facility, for that is the non-electric level of the facility, surrounded by levels of lead to prevent any sort of current. There you will find one of our greatest allies."
"Wait so the key was just for 1 person?" Spring clarified, seeing how she made it sound like it was to the whole facility.
"Yes, there is Ian Selkon, someone who can speak to electricity and manipulate it to his will. Frost and a few others will lead him to the main security room so we will have access to the whole building."
Frost nodded, a bit nervous to how important her role feels. Her nerves spiking as Whisper handed her the small golden key, the metal was surprisingly warm. It was from Whisper holding it in her inside pocket right above her heart.
The others wanted to question what their roles will be, but with Whisper turning the radio back up they all felt they shouldn't speak up. Her silent authority holding their tongues.
Soon they pulled up to the dingy, 2-level, motel composed of two buildings with a massive worn sign with a big, bold, 10 still clear through the grime.
A familiar face was standing beside one of the few vans, Magma, his body blocking a hunched over woman who seemed to be throwing up what looked like white liquid. But both turned to look at the approaching van, Magma squinting at them to see Weaver at the wheel, eagerly waving as Weaver pulled up on the other side of their van.
"Hey!" Magma shouted, still by the woman's side as she retched, "How are you guys?" He completely glazed over the fact that she was still puking, but soon she stood up straight and waved at the group, seeming unfazed. Strings of what seemed like saliva were coming out of her mouth, but as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, the strings just seemed to grow.
"Hello," Whisper approached the pair, smiling as another van pulled up into the parking lot. They were still missing two more teams filled with more people, but there was enough of them for Whisper to begin the plan, "Link, let everyone know to meet outside."
And soon a small army gathered outside, and as the vans arrived, more and more people came. All looking ready for an epic battle.
Whisper looked out to her people.
So many gifts and powers of so many varieties.
Someone who can speak any language in the world even dead ones.
Someone who can emit light from their hands.
Someone who's stomach can open up with a massive mouth and devour anything.
Someone who's hair can slice up anything.
And more and more.
These are Whisper's people, and soon there will be more.
