Jungkook wiped his own tears, shifting his gaze to the stairs, as if trying to figure out something. Taehyung noticed he was looking restless. He noticed how Jungkook's eyes moved from place to place unable to concentrate on anything particular. Then suddenly he noticed Jungkook's eyes go still, looking in the air. Still as an ocean before a storm.
Then Jungkook looked at Taehyung.
"Taehyung? Will you trust me one last time? Will you let me be with you forever? Will you?"
What Jungkook did next startled Taehyung, but didn't shock him.
Jungkook came closer to Taehyung. He placed his hands on Taehyung's shoulder and sat on his lap, facing him. Jungkook's legs hanging a little bit off the ground on both sides of Taehyung.
But Jungkook didn't make eye contact. He just burried his head in the crook of Taehyung's neck and cried, hugging his shoulders.
This was the closest Taehyung had been to Jungkook. He could feel Jungkook's heart beating fast against him. He could feel Jungkook's tears wet his neck and soak his shirt.
Unknowingly Taehyung found himself crying too. He found tears leave his eyes as much as Jungkook's. He didn't know why he was crying. He didn't know what he was feeling. But he knew this was it. This was all that he had. All of his friends were dead. Killed. By the person sitting on his lap. He had nothing else in this world, that would keep him alive. He had lost everything. He felt Jungkook mumble something.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry Taehyung that I loved you! I'm so sorry." He said and picked up his head to look at Taehyung.
His eyes were red and pluffy, and his nose and cheeks also held a deep blush. How long had Jungkook been crying? Taehyung thought to himself looking at the boy.
Why did he look so vulnerable now? After all that he did? How could he look like this?
How could Jungkook love him like this? Can anyone really love someone this much?
Silent tears were also leaving Taehyung's eyes, which he didn't even realize until Jungkook's hands wiped them ever so softly.
"I really am sorry Taehyung. But what else can I do? I am like this! I love you way too much to let you go. I love you way too much to let us part!"
Jungkook cupped Taehyung's face in his hands as he spoke.
"But when the police comes, they will separate us. We won't be able to be together. Never again. I don't want that Taehyung! I don't. That's why we both have to die."
"If you can't be mine then you can't be anyone else's. And if I can't be yours, then I can't be anyone's too."
Taehyung listened to Jungkook's every word carefully. He was surprised to see that he could feel Jungkook's love towards him through his words, no matter how cruel they were.
Taehyung thought to himself that maybe this was the end. After this, nothing would matter to him. Maybe this was for the best. Maybe after this he would be free, without any worries, without any fears, without any pain. Maybe it would be better to die than to live the rest of his life all alone.
And maybe, just maybe, he didn't mind dying with someone who loved him so much. Dying with someone who went to such great extents just for him. What Jungkook did was brutal, but to him, he was doing it for Taehyung. He was doing it to protect Taehyung.
And yet again, Taehyung found himself forgiving his friend and now the person who loved him so much.
Jungkook saw Taehyung blankly staring at him and he said.
