The wolf sleeping in sheets made from the finest satin, only stirs when a hand-maiden pulls away the thick curtains, pulling them to the ends and tucking them into the gold hooks, letting the stream of early dawn come through.

It's early, the wolf can sense that much as she awakens, eyes tightly squeezed closed and relishing the last few seconds left in slumber. She can hear the faint shuffle of the maid scurry out, fine wooden door shutting tightly.

A yawn falls from her lips, fair arms rising above her head and stretching limbs, and flexing her shoulder blades. She always slept in incredibly odd positions, cradling her head and curling her body, her form not feeling quite safe to swim in the sheets of her entire bed just yet.

Heavy eyes look at her lap, brushing across the satin rose-pink duvet. The pads of her fingers gently caress the sheets, feeling the expensive material rub soft against her touch. Never had she ever thought she'd be sleeping in a bed like this.

Another yawn breaks through her lips, her head a little fuzzy.

The events of the night prior had sort of faded in her head, becoming hard to remember. She can remember the lawkeepers crashing, and she can remember the words that they said. She then remembers Thalia bringing her up here and then telling her to sleep.

She doesn't want to think about it anymore, pushing it down with the rising dread.

Ember had been too afraid to sleep, not wanting to have a nightmare and have it heard by others, so she laid awake for hours in the night, until she eventually passed out from sheer exhaustion. Her head throbs slightly, but she doesn't care. Fingers thread through the sheets, stroking the covers.

The bed felt beautiful beneath her skin, and she flops back down, curls billowing around her. They were a little dry, a little frizzy and she groans knowing that she had to wash them.

She lingers in the warmth of the bed a little longer, not wanting to leave the cloud. She'd never sleep as comfortably as she did here, her old beds always were harder with a mattress not made for her petite form. The room itself was stunning, made from shades of rose-pink and greys, furniture extravagant and couches made from leather with a carpet pristine and fluffy.

There are large windows plastered to the left, with huge balcony doors that opened out. The handmaiden had also opened them, letting the morning air breeze in and wake her up. It was a little cold.

She's still wearing the hoodie she had worn the night before – she didn't want to get changed in front of Thalia and show her body. She vaguely remembers taking off the joggers in the middle of the night though, and she can see them all crumpled in the corner where she had thrown them.

Ember jumps when the door opens again, watching another hand-maiden walk in. She was a little older than Ember, with warm and kind features, and a lovely smile. Ember smiles back, aware of her messy hair and pulling her hood up.

"Morning my Queen. I hope you slept well. My name is Rosa. I'm here to help you get ready for the day," the lycan female murmurs.

"Hello," Ember murmurs.

The world they lived in was at a weird standpoint. Lots of palaces and older kingdoms, like this one, still kept very traditional elements. But, the world was advancing, becoming more modernised in other elements too. They still kept some of their acts, with some things changing and others not so much. Strange, but that's how it was.
