Samantha exited the boarding ramp, only to discover that she was completely lost. She knew it was somewhere downtown, but she wasn't sure where. This part was rather unfamiliar.
She walked out of the dark alley, and heard the ship cloak behind her.
Samantha was temporarily blinded as the lights of the city hit her. It was like walking into sunshine after being cooped up in a dark basement. Suddenly, a car nearly missed her, honking its horn in annoyance. She cursed at it.
Dumb bitch doesn't know a think about what I've been through, she though savagely. Samantha cringed after a moment. It seemed Kyrum's negativity was starting to rub off on her. All the low grumbling and his deep voice...it really affected you.
But it was so soothing at the same time...
Samantha shook her head rapidly. What was she thinking? Kyrum was a fucking space alien. He wasn't attractive.
As she walked around, the landscape became more and more familiar. Eventually, she saw her apartment. What a miracle. Also miraculously, her keycard was still lodged in her back pocket. Things were weird now that she thought about it.
Samantha swiped her card against the door and entered the dimly lit lobby. The receptionist barely looked up at her.
She automatically walked up the stairs and into her room, expecting to see Audrey on the couch with the TV on, but Samantha remembered that Kyrum had probably killed Audrey. Thinking about this, Samantha went into Audrey's former room, and discovered it had been stripped clean. Nothing left except a neatly folded bed and the small TV. It was like nobody had ever moved there in the first place. She closed the door, not wanting to look at it any longer.
Otherwise, the apartment looked exactly as Samantha left it. She went into the living room and turned on the national news. The headline was, "Death numbers have skyrocketed in Nashville...is it just a serial killer?"
