Cases under the bed

"Sorry for dragging you," Stuart said softly as they waited at a red light. "No worries, mate. Are, we just driving around?" 2D folded his arms on top of the steering wheel and rested his head on it. He was silent, watching the other cars. "I can't go back." He finally said. "I-I um, can drop you off, at your house. I'll find a hotel or somethi-- actually, I can suck it up." He sniffed again, wiping his nose with his sleeve. Murdoc said apologetically "No, no. I don't want you to go back. She's probably still there, right?" Stuart turned the car "Yeah." He cleared his throat. "Where...where um- do you live? So, I can drop you off." He changed the subject, hopefully, so he wouldn't cry again. "Oh, I live in one of the Greenwood apartments." "Oh," Stuart laughed weakly "...so basically down the street where we are now." Murdoc chuckled as well "Yeah." 2D turned into the street where the first apartments were. "What number?" "314." Stuart immediately looked up at the buildings. "It's a high one I bet." Murdoc sighed "Yeah." He looked out of the side window, looking at the numbers of the lower buildings to get a better estimation of where it would be. "You can stop here, where you can park your car." Stuart was a little confused on why he wanted him to park his car, but he didn't want to be in the way of other cars if they did pass by him. He nodded and parked his car, unlocking the doors. Murdoc got out, shutting the door before coming around Stuart's side. Murdoc opened his door, being granted a confused look. "Come on." 2D kept looking at him with furrowed brows. "I'm not going to let your sad ass go to a hotel. You can stay with me." He grabbed his arm and pulled him out of his car. 2D made an eep noise while stumbling out.

They walked up the stairs, Stuart's chest heavy with guilt. Murdoc kept his arm linked around 2D's, which he didn't mind, but for some reason, his hands were getting hot. He then soon remembered how often Murdoc touched him, even if it was a pat on the shoulder. He thought it was interesting. After they got on the third floor, they started walking down the hall. "Okay, here we are." Murdoc smiled. He was somewhat excited, like having a friend over as a kid. Well, in a way, that's exactly what he's doing. Murdoc pulled out his keycard, unlocking his door before opening it. Stuart walked in cautiously, not familiar with the environment, and didn't want to look like an idiot being too comfortable. It was a very minimal apartment, looking like it probably did when it was advertised. Maybe he hasn't lived here for too long. "Did you just move in?" Stuart asked, rubbing his hot hands, as it was extremely uncomfortable. He shrugged "Well, not recently, I've been here for at least a month." Stuart nodded. They stood in awkward silence for a moment. "Are you hungry at all?" Murdoc asked. He kept glancing at 2D's hands, which made him stop fidgeting with them. "Ah, no. I guess getting upset made me lose my appetite." He looked down and chuckled. Murdoc smiled apologetically "That's alright. Just tell me if you need anything. I'm going to get some water." Stuart hummed, watching Murdoc walk away. He scanned the area, finding the bathroom quite easily without having to ask because the door was open. He walked into the bathroom and ran cold water on his hands. He didn't know why they were so hot, but it was so uncomfortable that he wanted it to go away. He washed his hands while he was there, so he would present as at least a somewhat decent person.

He walked back out, seeing Murdoc on the couch. He turned around and waved to him, which 2D quickly obliged. As he sat down, he realized how tired he was. Crying doesn't exactly help either. What was the sleeping situation going to be like? He just assumed that he was going to get the couch, which he was totally fine with. "What do you want to watch?" Murdoc pepped. "Anything is fine," Stuart said calmly, smiling lightly. Murdoc switched through the channels before stopping on Diner's, Drive-ins, and Dives. "Oh my god yes," Stuart said, gaining a little more energy. Murdoc laughed, which made Stuart's chest burn. It caused him to cough, and his brain was filled with even more confusion.

They watched that for a good while, before Murdoc began to notice 2D getting droopier and quieter. "Are you getting tired?" He asked quietly. Stuart blinked "Yeah, a little bit." Murdoc hummed "Yeah me too." 2D yawned, cracking his knuckles "I can take the couch." Murdoc raised his eyebrows "Uh, no." Stuart looked at him fully "Why not?" He sighed "This isn't a sleeping couch. This will fuck up your back like hell. I learned that the hard way." Stuart's brain went blank "Oh, okay." He managed. "You can sleep in my bed." Murdoc smiled softly. 2D blinked "Then- where would you go?" Murdoc's face softened, his shoulders slumping. "In my bed?" Stuart felt himself blush lightly. He fidgeted with his hands again. "It's a king-sized bed, there's like, 2 to 3 feet of space." He said casually. "O-okay sounds fine by me." 2D tried to say smoothly, while his mind was screaming so hard it began to hurt his head. This made Murdoc smile, "Cool." He turned off the TV.

Stuart stayed basically on the edge of the bed, trying not to disturb Murdoc. He was more tired than Murdoc, so the chances of him staying awake before Murdoc fell asleep was slim, but he was determined. He thought it would be awkward if he just fell off of the bed because he fell asleep right on the edge. He would scoot in maybe an inch if Murdoc was sleeping, so maybe it wouldn't be as embarrassing if he was awake. He didn't want Murdoc to think he wanted to get close to him or anything, even though he remembered how insanely comfortable he was on his chest on the couch the other night. He was overthinking again, like always. He just needed to wait a small bit he bet, then it would be fine.

Murdoc turned his head very slowly towards 2D's direction, trying not to make too much noise. He felt kind of disappointed and a little distrusted on how far away he was, but it was a broad invitation, so he kind of walked into that one. He noticed that he looked like he was about to fall off, and wanted to pull him a little closer, but didn't want to startle him. Of course, since Stuart was exhausted compared to Murdoc, he fell asleep quite quickly, and he was in deep sleep about 5 minutes later. Murdoc, first placed his hand on his back, to see if he would react. If so, then he could use the excuse of he looked like he wasn't breathing, and was making sure he didn't die. 2D didn't move. He sighed, then held his breath as he wrapped his arms around his chest, pulling him more into the bed slowly. Stuart hummed quietly, making Murdoc freeze. He still had his arms around him and was scared if he moved them, he would wake up. He relaxed, keeping his arms around his chest. He smiled absentmindedly, being able to hold someone who was going through an exceptional amount of pain. He felt protective, which was something he had always wanted to feel. He knew what he was feeling in his own chest, but he didn't know what to do about it. He was pretty sure Stuart was straight, anyway, and that he was just a very emotional and physical guy. Which, didn't help Murdoc at all, because the physical affection overwhelmed him, in a way where he thought their relationship would be impossible. But, nevertheless, Stuart never got upset when he hugged or cuddled him, so he didn't feel too insecure about the situation. But he wasn't fully confident of what he could do, so he was still cautious. He sighed, the warmth making him drowsier.
