Thalia's POV

"Please take a seat." The Beta said before he receded to his chair. They were already talking when we arrived.

Chase sat down at the other end of the table, me on his right and Jack on his left. His mate is outside. Come to think of it, I haven't caught her name. I couldn't always refer to her as 'the girl' or 'Jack's mate'. Regardless, I'll know somehow, give or take, that's how I know names.

"The rogues came to my mate's house." Did they already start? I have been spacing out again. Not that it's new.

"Do you know why would they be there?"

"No." I secretly glanced towards Chase, he knows what might be the reason. Is he trying to hide those details?

"Hmm.. Perhaps, they caught scent of an Alpha in an unclaimed land and went investigating since those rogues from last night did not return." The Beta theorized, his voice laced with curiosity eyeing at Chase. Implying that this is his fault. Briefly catching my eyes as my mate considers those words. I see. They were curious about me, aren't they? I couldn't help but smile at their quick minds. Of course, they found me with the bloods on my hand. When Chase was rampaging, one rogue was foolish to continue its attack. If they were to speculate, they might think I am a hunter, a very skilled one as not to employ any weapon. I already retracted my claws when they arrived and I don't think they witnessed the whole thing. Or that I am a skilled she-wolf who is a late shifter but that would make me a rogue. There is a specific scent that tells you if a wolf belongs to a pack, but I still have a human scent. Yeah I would be confused too if I was the one determining my kind. These deemed me as a not so trustable character. But am I?

"Maybe..." I started, Chase looked at me reaching for my hand under the table but I still continued. "They were just finishing their hunt." This meeting won't get anywhere if they continue on guessing. Catching everyone's attention, Chase squeezed my hand. Yes, we are in a different pack and he won't be able to control the opinions of these wolves but, I don't care.

"What is there to finish?" The tone of the Beta has a sweet excitement with their dangerous curiosity.

"Let's just say that they were eager to wipe out those who were present that night in the woods." If only I was at home, Aiyu won't come searching for me. He's been checking on me since I went home and though I understand his concern, he knew better that I don't need that. We both fail on sympathy.

"What were you doing out there? In the middle of the forest?" The Beta kept his interrogation. It's none of your business, that's what I would have said. It was Aiyu who aided the girl, not me. If only I sensed them earlier.

"I was taking a walk, that's why." I don't need to include the each and every reason. I couldn't sleep, my head is bugging me and I just have to find peace and quiet.

"A walk? In the middle of the forest? Hmmm... Such a coincidence."

"What are you implying, Beta Rico?" The threat in my mate's words brought tension in the air. He emphasized the word Beta, telling that he is an Alpha and the loudmouth is only a Beta, a second. That will get this room in blood and I'm not in the mood right now.

"Nothing," He smiled, "what is there to imply?" He does have a death wish. Tsk. My turn then, I squeezed Chase's hand while not looking at him. My concentration might be broken, if I did.

"Rico, let us stop this small talks." The silent alpha finally said something. At least, someone is mature enough to stop the kids from bickering.

"Do you know what happened that night?" Oh, he's quite frank. "If you do, can you tell us the details?" This is fine than playing around. I don't want to be in this room for long.
