I sit up and observe my surroundings, I am in my bedroom and Rafe is asleep next to me. I feel a sharp pain in the back of my head, and I grabs it as I groan. I then hear a ping, I look over at Rafes phone and see it has gone off. I walk over to the stand on Rafes side of the bed and pick it up. I read the message that is on the screen.

Dad
Do not come home. Cops here. I'll come to you. Dad.

"Shit." I say aloud, causing Rafe to wake up on the bed next to her.

"You okay?" Rafe questions, sitting up. I sit down on the bed next to Rafe.

"I'm fine," I say, handing the phone to Rafe. Rafe looks at the message on the phone.

"Fuck." Rafe says, throwing the phone.

"Yeah, um." I say, running my hands through my knotted hair.

"What the fuck is he telling them?" Rafe asks, standing off the bed.

"Who knows, he said he'll come to us. Let's wait." I say.

"Alright, alright. We are good." Rafe says, running his hands through his blonde hair.

"What happened last night?" I question, placing my hand on her head again.

"Oh shit, yeah well," Rafe says, "Topper came, knocked you out, beat the shit out of me. Then I brought us back here."

I open my front door allowing Ward into my home.

"Where is Rafe?" Ward questions, stepping into the house.

"Upstairs in my room." I say, rolling my eyes. Ward helps himself, walking up the stairs and then into a random bedroom. Luckily it was mine.

"Rafe. We need to talk." Ward says, stepping into the bedroom. Rafe turns around to face his dad.

"They got you, right?" Rafe questions.

"We heard it on the news. You're done." I say, flopping down on the bed.

"Not yet." Ward says.

"What happened here?" Ward asks, pointing to the bruise on Rafes face.

"Rafe, I need you to listen to me." Ward says, sitting down on the bed next to Rafe.

"Yeah?" Rafe questions, confused. Ward puts a wad of cash in Rafes hand.

"Take this, all right? You guys go to Wilmington tonight." Ward says.

"Why do we have to leave?" I question.

"Anyways we need a boat to get to Wilmington. We don't have a boat." Rafe says, shaking his head.

"You guys will find a boat. You can figure it out." Ward says.

"You still aren't answering our questions. Why do we have to leave?" I ask again.

"You have to stay hidden too. Just get to Wilmington, all right?" Ward says, ignoring me.

"What the hell, Ward." I say, annoyed that he keeps ignoring me.

"I told the police that Rafe did it." Ward says.

"What?" Me and Rafe question at the same time.

"I had to. There was no other option. You guys will be ok. You will go to my old office." Ward says.

"Yeah." Rafe says.

"Market street, remember?" Ward questions.

"Yeah." Rafe says.

"Wait, you're okay with all of this?" I question.

"Right out back, there's a car." Ward says, ignoring me again.

"Okay." Rafe says.

"I want you guys to go to McClintock Aviation." Ward says.

"Got it." Rafe says.

"I will charter you guys a plane." Ward says.

"You guys are gonna get out of here." Ward says.

"You're gonna charter us where?" I question.

"I don't know. I mean, it's gonna be somewhere safe. I'll figure it out." Ward says. All I can think about is all the ways she wants to kill Ward.

"Dad." Rafe says.

"The important thing is-" Ward begins saying, then gets cut off.

"What the actual fuck?" I say, interrupting Ward.
