After walking a distance far enough from Arjun, Ananya finally came back to reality. She abruptly stopped, making Abhi stumble a little as he turned to look at her. Staring back at him, Anu began, “what the hell just happened Abhi? What was all that about?”
Sighing and steadying himself to give her a reasonable answer Abhi slowly spoke, “Ananya I know that all this seems really weird to you, but trust me when I say that I did all that only to protect you.” Realizing that they were still holding hands, Anu quickly broke away from his hold and spoke, “so you want me to believe that you held my hand and called me your love just because you wanted to protect me? You sure it wasn’t just for your amusement or a part of your ragging?”
Abhi knew he would have to face all this someday because of what he and Kathir were doing but to have it come out of Anu's mouth actually hurt him but he didn’t know why. Pushing those feelings aside he continued, “listen to me , I know it’s hard to believe whatever I say but I really did it to protect you! That guy who was walking towards you in the corridor earlier is the guy you want to and have to steer clear of. I just didn’t want him to talk to you, not a word, not a sentence!”
For a second all that Ananya wanted to do was to believe the words coming from the stranger in front of her, but that just frustrated her even more. She then spoke back to him, “ohh so you wanted to protect me! Even if what you are saying is true, don't you realize that associating with me and not allowing him to talk to me will only make him want to talk to me more. If you would have just let me, he would have spoken to me only once. Now that he has seen me with you and knows that you get triggered when he speaks to me that just gives him more of an advantage to toy with the both of us. So, you trying to help me has only made things worse for the both of us. But thanks anyway for your help!” Saying so, Anu walked away leaving Abhi speechless.
On reaching her classroom, Anu noticed that Anjali had not come to class yet which gave her time to think about everything that happened. Anu left a long held breath before recollecting everything that happened. The moment she felt a hand around her waist, she panicked but after getting to know that it was Abhi she immediately felt safe. For a person who she had known only for a day, his hold, his voice, his words, his scent and most importantly his eyes, all of this felt so normal to her, as though she was used to this, as though she was right at home. The fact that she obliged to everything Abhi did without even thinking twice made her feel very confused and frustrated and so she showed it all on him without even thinking. She now began to feel guilty as there might be a tiny chance that everything he said was true. She then made a mental note to apologize to him the next time she saw him. Seeing her friend walk up to her, Ananya immediately pushed all her thoughts away and focused her attention on her friend first. On finding Anjali happy and smiling, Anu asked, “what happened babe? Is everything alright? You went to talk to Kathir but now you’re smiling and all, what exactly happened?”
Anjali answered,with an even bigger smile than before “ohh babe you have no idea how happy I am! I had some time to think about what Kathir said and I realized that the info he gave will literally be my best weapon to get on his nerves,that’s why I’m so happy babe!” Just as Anjali finished speaking ,their class had started and both the girls put their thoughts aside for now and focused on class.
On the other side, Abhi reached his class and sat down in a very absent minded manner. Ananya’s angry face and her words were the only things that were running through his mind. He couldn’t neglect her words nor did he think that her words may be true. The thought of him being the reason for Ananya to get tortured made him mad but Arjun shook him up to a point where he wanted to pull out his own hair because of the frustration. In order to protect her Abhi reacts without thinking about any of the other consequences. Kathir, who came into the class at that time was welcomed by a sulky and zoned out Abhi, whereas Abhi didn’t even realize that Kathir had come until kathir slapped his back before settling down. When questioned by his friend about his current state of mind, Abhi decided not to disclose the reason to him as it felt it was a very delicate and private thing, and could not share it with anyone,not even Kathir. So he just shook his head as if to say nothing to his friend even though he wanted to tell Kathir everything immediately. As though to protect Abhi, their class also started which put a hold on their conversation. Being the best of friends, Kathir and Abhi never hide anything from each other including each other’s birthday surprises. But for the 1st time Abhi decided he wants to keep something from Kathir even though it was one of the hardest things for him to do in life. One thing Abhi was sure of was that he wasn’t going to let anyone get hurt in the process of protecting her. He then with a heavy heart and wild thoughts began to try to concentrate on his class. ____________________________________________________________________________
