Mi amor (my love)

CHAPTER 11

After successfully completing that day’s class both the girls walked towards the canteen when suddenly Anjali got a call and so she left Anu alone to attend the call.

Looking around the canteen, Ananya's eyes caught Abhi sitting in the corner of the canteen with his head hung low. She immediately felt bad as she knew that it was because of her and so she bought a chocolate and went towards him.
Standing in front of him, Anu cleared her throat in an attempt to make her arrival known to him. Sensing that he was lost in his own world, Anu gulped slowly and called his name in a tone which was barely a whisper. As though being summoned through the loud speaker, Abhi's head straightened up only for his eyes to land on the girl who had been running through his thoughts all day long.
He stood up so fast that it made Anu stumble a little. Both of them had a lot to say to each other, but being next to each other they both were at a loss for words. Both of their eyes would land on each other at the same time after looking around the entire place.
If someone saw them from a distance, they would assume that the two were hesitant lovers but only Abhi and Anu knew what was going on in between them.
After what seemed like an eternity Anu composed herself and slowly began,
“Abhi I am sorry for what I said earlier. I have never been in a situation like that before and so I just dumped all that confusion and frustration on you. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I really am sorry.”
Saying so, Anu smiled and extended the chocolate in her hand towards him.
Abhi was surprised at her apology and then he began,
“you have nothing to apologize for Anu, I totally understand your situation. So please don’t be sorry.”
Looking down at the chocolate in her hands he continued,
“I have to tell you something Anu and after that if you still feel like giving me the chocolate, I will take it. I thought about what you said earlier and you’re right, me trying to protect you has indeed put you in the spotlight and  in Arjun's eyes and I’m really sorry for that! Since I am the one who put you in harm’s way it is my responsibility to help you out of it. So, I’ve decided to continue the act of you being my girlfriend in front of Arjun and his gang whether you like it or not. That way he won’t trouble you and I’ll also be at ease. I would love for you to cooperate but if not, I don’t mind because I will just go about with my plan.”
Anu was in shock because of what he said and immediately she walked away from him without uttering a word.
After walking a little distance away from him, Anu stopped, took a deep breath, turned around and began walking back towards him.

Seeing her walk towards him, Abhi decided that he was going to get slapped for sure and was ready for it. But now it was Abhi’s turn to be surprised because Anu sat down in the seat opposite to his and signalled for him to sit. She then began,
“See Abhi, I don’t know what kind of threat you think Arjun poses but if you feel the need to protect me then I think that it really must be something serious. So without asking you any questions I’m going to let you go ahead with whatever you have planned. I’m accepting this only because I can’t keep getting shocked every time you do something unexpected. Also, you’re my senior and I believe that you’re doing this for my good. But if I get to know that you’re doing this just for your entertainment, you will see a completely different version of me, mind you. For this plan to work we must be friends and so here’s my number.”
Extending the chocolate again,
“You can take it as I’m okay with what you said.”

Saying so, Anu stood up and walked in search of her friend and fresh air. Even though Anu was shocked at first at what Abhi said, her mind was immediately ready to trust him. She never had this feeling before and for a person who goes with the flow, Anu decided to believe in her instinct and put her trust on Abhi. To be honest she was a little curious as to what was in store for her in this act.

Returning back from her call, Anjali was shocked to find Anu looking all dreamy and smiling. Curious to know what had happened to Anu in the gap she went to attend a call, she asked her friend about it but all that she got was a bone crushing hug. Then a confused Anjali and a happy Ananya walked hand in hand back to their hostel after picking up some stuff to munch on while discussing each other’s exciting day.

On the other hand, after Anu's little speech, Abhi felt like he was soaring high up in the air because of the happiness he felt in his  heart. The fact that she was ready to trust him so easily made his heart swell up with pride and he was determined not to break that trust. Even though he knew it was an act, being able to call Anu his girl put a wide smile on his face and he watched Anu walk away with that same smile.
He then carefully picked up the chocolate she left for him as though it was a chest filled with gold and diamonds.
As he walked to find his friend, all the others in the cafeteria looked at him strangely as his face and body had the look of a man in love.
