School day

[Hi, author here, just thought I'd mention this before anyone starts speculating weird things; there will be NO romantic pairings with my OC and any character, there is a large age gap between her and pretty much everyone but Konohamaru lol, so maybe at the very end of the book when adults... they can date in the boruto timeline like idk I don't have any plans yet😅 She's focused on her shinobi career and we'll leave it at that until the last chapters.✌🏼 This is very much an adventure and shinobi life book, exposing secrets 'n stuff like @writer128 s book Hoshigaki :]

"Hey, you're shikamarus little sister, right?"

I smile up at my brother's friend, Naruto I think, "yep!"

"Ohh, I thought I recognized you. Well I have to go, see ya later Shikamaru! Shikara!"

Big brother waves a lazy hand, and we continue on our way in the academy yard with me following him around, until another one of his classmates stops us.

"Aww! Your little sister's so cute!" Ino gushes, "I didn't even know she was old enough for the academy yet. Does she start the first grade this year already?"

My brother scratches the back of his head, "well, she actually just came from the grade assessment and they placed her into our year, so it looks like she'll be graduating with us."

She looks shocked, "you're kidding!"

Big bro sighs, "kidding would be too troublesome... But you're right I'm surprised too, only a select number of prodigies skip that much academy training."

I shrug with raised arms, "I dunno really what a prodiggy is but I thought I was gonna be with the other six year-olds."

His blond friend raises her brows, "wow, you must be pretty smart then Shikara-chan, huh?"

I nod, "yep, I guess so!"

She laughs, "well, if you're going to be in our class this year we should be friends."

I grin, "sure! I've been wanting a friend other than my brother for a while."

"Say, do you like flowers? What's your favourite one?"

"Yeah, flowers are cool!" I put my hand to my chin in thought, "hmm... I like the little yellow ones."

"Oh, those little yellow ones?" She asks pointing to some paintbrushes flowers.

I shake my head and pluck out a different one from the schoolyard, "no, the ones like these."

She smile when I place it in her hand, "oh! This is a buttercup, they're my favourite wild-flower."

I high five her, "cool! We like the same one!"

She laughs, and gives a teasing look between big bro and I, "you're way cooler than your big brother Shikara."

I cross my arms and shake my head, "nuh-uh, my big bro is really cool," I point my hand around, "he taught me jutsu and he's REALLY good."

She nods, "ohh okay."

The bell rang a minute ago, so big bro sighs and says, "guess we better head in."
