Zoe's POV
Zoe Phillips was back to living with her parents. After a failed marriage and a failed career here she was. Back living in her childhood LA home surrounded by memories of her past life.
"Zoe," her mom's voice rang through the house. "Dinner."
Zoe headed downstairs. Her parents were both eating some home made pizza. Zoe noticed there was broccoli on it and internally gagged. Her parents were on a trying different foods with vegetables thing.
She liked her veggies separate from her pizza. Still she ate it without a word.
"So, sweetheart. Rosie and Ben have moved in together. Isn't that great?" Her dad smiled over at her.
Rosie and Ben started dating a few years ago, but Zoe just recently found out about it. She put a fake smile on and nodded "that's great. I'm happy for them."It was hard to feel happy about anything.
"Gramps is happy to have the place to himself again. But he did invite us to go visit in a few months. Sound like fun? I want to see your dad in the stables." Her mother said slowly.
"Sure, would be great." Zoe did not think it would be great. The stables were the last place she wanted to be. She did not leave them on good terms.
"Good. I'll take off work so we can visit. I haven't been on a vacation in a while." Her dad smiled and they went back to silence.
As soon as she finished her last slice Zoe raced upstairs to her bedroom. There were pictures of her on Raven, her Beautiful old horse that was still in England, and pictures of her racing on Triton, her late horse. Her heart panged looking at her boys.
To distract herself from the pain she went on her phone and scrolled through Instagram. She had a lot of followers from when she was on the American Riding team, but she had lost some over the last few years. She wasn't active in the sport or on social media.
She did smile a bit at some of the pictures, mostly cats and dogs being silly. There were memes over books she read that she shared because they were funny. It was a normal time, until she saw some BBC news post.
She didn't even follow them but it appeared on her screen anyway.
Duke Hawthorne's bachelor days are over!
And there was a picture of him with his arm around a woman. On her hand was an engagement ring. This couldn't be right. Pin couldn't be engaged. They had to be wrong, or this was edited. Zoe looked at the account and clicked the link in their bio. And found the article on pin.
Duke Hawthorne is about to say "I do" to his fiancé Faye Winters whom the Duke has been in a relationship with for the past four years. The royal lovebirds are to marry in ten days and their entire island, along with many other guest are invited. Fans of the couple have shared many edits and congratulatory messages across the internet. We hope they have a beautiful wedding and a happy marriage.
"No, no this cant be real." Zoe searched pin's name up on Google and saw many of the same type articles congratulating them. Her heart ached.
"MOM!" Zoe screamed, she couldn't believe he was getting married. Did he not care about her? Obviously he didn't because he was marrying someone else and didn't have the decency to tell her at all. Not a letter or a postcard. Nothing.
Her mother came running in. "Darling what wrong?"
She just shoved the phone over to her.
"Oh honey."
