A Fated Reality

Chapter One

I live in a perfect society. Everyone is born with someone they're fated with, although we aren't able to meet our soul mates until we're 16. On our 16th birthday, a tattoo shows up, but there's only one person in the world has the same tattoo. Once you turn 16, you're able to communicate with your soul mate by writing on your skin. There are many rules behind this, all of which I will explain later.

My name is Evianna, although everyone just calls me E. I'm 15, although I turn 16 in a months' time, on October 12th. To everyone else turning 16 would be a big deal, but for me, I don't really see the big deal. My parents never met their fated and went their whole lives not thinking they had one before they died.

A little bit of background on my parents, my mother was the only child in her family and grew up being spoiled. My dad, however, was the oldest of 9 brothers, so no one paid much attention to them. As a result of how my parents grew up, they wanted to spoil me and my siblings rotten. I am the youngest sibling of seven, and my mother died when I was five during a shooting at a carnival that I begged her to go to. My mom died at the age of 52, she gave birth to my eldest sister when she was only 18.

After my mother died, my father ended up killing himself a month later. My siblings all blame me for the death of my parents, so we're not exactly that close. My siblings are older than me, the next youngest being my brother Kain, who's five years older than me.

My oldest sister is 29, and I don't know much about her. She was 19 when my mom died, she's 14 years older than me, and the last time I saw her was when I was 4 before my mom died. Once my parents both died, I was sent off to live with a family friend, Jill, who didn't like me very much, neither did her five sons. All of her sons were mostly moved out, except for Jack. Jack was your typical popular football jock, he also hated my guts, but at least he was silent about his dislike, unlike his mother.

I had my own room, and that was all I could ask for. With my birthday in just a month, I could possibly do something with my best friends, that is if Jill lets me do anything. My best friends are Megan and Kylie, they were both 16 already. Megan is kind of a bit of a jokester, she likes making people laugh, but she also really cares about everyone's feelings, she won't make a joke that would insult anyone. Kylie however is more of a free spirit, she does what she wants, but never will she do something to hurt her family or her friends.

Me, however, I'm nothing like either of my friends, I'm shyer and reserved, I don't like talking to people, and my favorite pastime is to dance and sing to music. No one knows that I sing or dance, not my family, and especially not Jill and her sons.

I dance whenever I get the chance, usually I'll sneak out and go to the dance studio down the street when no one is there. I sometimes feel like someone is watching me, but I know that's just me being paranoid.
