Two Hearts , One's Journey

Chapter 2: The Present

*Beep beep beep* a loud alarm shot me out of bed.

"Ugh," I yelled out as I crawl out of bed. I looked at the time, it reads 8:00 AM. I felt like I didn't want to get out of bed. I walked out of my bedroom into my living room.

"I still haven't unpacked my stuff yet." I thought to myself. I left my apartment to go for a nice stroll through the forest.

1 hour later.

I came back home and opened the front door. I walked to my couch and sat down. There was nothing to do since I'm alone. Sitting in silence made me think about my past. My parents abandoned me. Leaving me to be on my own. I was very lonely, I had no friends. I started to cry about my life.

"Why do I keep moving forward. There's no point. I have nothing to lose." I sadly thought to myself. I got up and decided to hang myself tonight. I looked at everything before I go. I continue to my bedroom. I grab a stool from the dining room. I grab a thick-looking piece of rope and made a noot. I sadly looked at my life one last time before I die. I got up from the stool and put the rope around my neck. My brain started to tell me to stop. But it was too late. I kicked the stool from under me. The rope caught my neck causing me to not breathe. I pass out 1 minute later.

"..." silence filled the dark room around me. I looked around, But there was nothing. I felt cold and empty inside.

5 minutes passed

I begin to shiver. I was very cold and the room kept getting darker. Then I noticed a bright light filling the room. I walked towards the light. Then I heard a voice speak to me.

"Nick... you are needed in this world. You are the only one to save it." The room got brighter and brighter. I couldn't see anymore.

"... beep... beep... beep" I woke up on a hospital bed. My neck felt very sore to the point where I couldn't move it. I looked around and saw something familiar. But before I got a good look, I passed out. I woke up again feeling a lot better. I looked around and started questioning.

"How did I get to the hospital?" I questioned myself. I got up, but stay in bed. I looked around again and saw a riolu sitting on a chair next to the bed. It was asleep on the chair.

"Did riolu just save me!?" I looked around and saw that it was pitch black outside. I tried to go back to sleep, but I'm full of energy. I tried to get up from the bed, but I felt dizzy and my legs felt weak. I fell on the floor making a loud *thump* as I hit the ground.

"Ow..." riolu was awoken by the sound of me falling. Riolu sigh and tried to pick me up. But I was too heavy for its small body. Riolu got up and left the room.

5 minutes later

I heard some footsteps getting closer and closer. I saw two doctors and they lifted me back up onto the bed.

"Now don't get up for about a week, Ok? The doctors said in a calm voice.

"Ok... I'm sorry." I said in a sad tone.

"Don't be sorry. It's our fault for not telling you to stay here for a few days."

The doctors checked my body for any more damage. But I got bruised up from falling. Riolu came back into the room and sat down next to me.

"Um.... riolu?" I shyly said. It turns its head towards me giving its full attention.

"Did you save me?" I asked. It nodded its head.

"Why?" I said sadly. It give me a shocked look before it walked up to me.

"Ri-riolu," it said sadly. I couldn't understand what it said. Riolu realized this and walked back to its chair. Then I heard something in my head.

"Can you hear me?" Asked the voice. I looked around to see if anything spoke to me.

"So you can hear me," it said happily. Suddenly riolu got up and walked towards me again.

"Wait are you speaking to me!?" I said with a shocked tone. It shook its head and said.

"I'm speaking through your mind." It sounded with a happy tone.

"Anyway, I save you because you were my only friend." It said sadly.

"But that riolu I talked two was a long time ago," I said in a serious tone.

"I doubt it wants to see me again." My tone slowly turned sadder. Its face was shocked when I said this.

"But what i-if it did?" Its tone becoming more aggressive. I looked at riolu and something looks and feels familiar about this riolu.

"U-um y-you wouldn't be that r-riolu from a long time ago, would you?" I spoke nervously. Its face now showed a sad and sorry look.

"T-that me." It slowly said.

"Then why did you disappear on me!?" I yelled with a sad tone to it. ...it didn't respond but it looks at me with sorrow.

"So no answer huh...?" My voice sounded with a low tone. It sat there with tears rolling down its cheek. I couldn't help feeling bad. But I was still mad about riolu leaving me.

"I-i'm s-sorry... I should've come back to that spot, But I was too shy. I hurt you because of me." Riolu's face was filled with tears. I grab riolu and pulled it closer to me. I hugged it until I couldn't hear it cry anymore. I let go of riolu and it sat back on the chair. I felt like there's more to the story than her being shy, but decided not to push it.

We sat there in silence. The cold air made me shiver. Riolu noticed this and lay next to me to warm up. I noticed my face began to heat up, but I shrug it off. I started to doze to sleep.

Next Morning

I woke up and felt cold. I looked at my side to see that riolu was gone. I sigh and tried to get up again, but I almost fell. I got back into bed realizing I won't be able to get out for a few days. I closed my eyes and tried thinking about something. Riolu popped into my head and I shot up. My heart was beating slightly faster.

"Why do I feel so weird thinking about riolu, I barely know it." I sigh and put my head back down. I lay in silence until I hear the door open. I saw riolu walking in with some food on a tray. I noticed I was very hungry. My mouth began to door to the smell of food.

"Here you go," Riolu said with a calm tone. It had a stack of 3 pancakes on it with a bottle of syrup on it.

"The drinks will be here soon." Riolu calmly said again. I nodded and sat waiting for the drinks. I looked at riolu and noticed that she is shaking.

"A-are you okay riolu?" I said worriedly. Riolu jumped and responded instantly.

"Y-yeah, i-i'm fine...." it said with a nervous tone.

"Are you sure?" I asked. Riolu then got up from their chair and walked out of the room.

"That was weird," I thought. Then I was a doctor walking in with a bottle of water and handed it to me. I smiled and said thank you. They nodded and walked out. I grab the tray and started putting the syrup on the pancakes.

20 minutes later

I finished the pancakes and felt ready for the day, but that feeling when away when I realized I can't get out of bed. I lay back down and went to sleep.
