"Are you sure about that?" the brunette asked as she trudged closely behind Lisa. The lieutenant kept her eyes locked to the target throughout the whole time, watching as he pulled the lifeless body with slight difficulty towards a place only he knew.

Lisa stubbornly ignored everything Jennie said for the past twenty minutes, completely refusing to lose her focus. She seemed obsessed with the idea of getting back on him for everything he had done and would continue to do later on without a single regret. She so desperately wanted to get in his way and stop the madness he was about to cause that she almost lost herself in her anger.

Jennie, on the other hand, wanted to stop Lisa.

"Absolutely. I can't let this pass" the lieutenant kneeled behind a tree and peaked from the edge.

"But it's extremely dangerous. What if you get yourself hurt? He can easily kill you, you see that he doesn't care what he's doing" Jennie tried to reason, but it seemed like it went past Lisa's hearing. Sometimes she hated how stubborn the lieutenant had to be.

"I was born to fight injustice, Jennie. It's my duty to prevent it from happening. The cost doesn't matter"

"Of course it matters when you have people who love you!" the brunette slightly raised her voice.

Lisa's eyes shut closed tightly as the memories of her father crashed into her clouded mind. Her nails dug into the dry bark of the tree she was leaning on as she realized the words Jennie spoke related to him more than the lieutenant would have liked to. Her heart clenched painfully when she remembered the anger and sorrow she felt when she found out what he had done on the field, how she thought it was reckless and stupid.

Now, she knew his reasonings. She understood what he felt, understood the need to push everything aside and do whatever she had to.

However, Lisa didn't want to cause any of this misery to the people who cared and loved her. Jennie was right. It would be hypocritical of her to hate someone for something yet do the exact same thing. As much as she loved her father, no matter that she had always followed his steps in everything, she knew she couldn't repeat the mistake he did. She would doom herself to death, her family to endless suffering, and Jennie to the complete loss of everything she had ever known.

Lisa had sworn she would risk herself in order to save innocent lives, but she never realized that the mere loss of her would leave such a big mess behind, that she would leave so much innocent people grieving in sorrow. She would break her own promise in her desperate attempts to keep it.

Even though her heart was pushing her to do the right thing, to fight the injustice, her mind was begging for the ounces of selfishness to resurface at least once. It wanted Lisa to consider herself, think about those closest to her, and make the decision that was best for her and not for the common good.

Jennie noticed Lisa's sudden silence, the way her deep brown eyes no longer followed the target, the way her nails dug deeper into the tree and she immediately knew her thoughts raced with hundreds of miles per second. The brunette knew what was going through her pretty head - thoughts of her father, though of past careless actions, and decisions that were harder to make than she had ever imagined.

Jennie moved closer and put a hand on her shoulder. "Think about yourself for once" she whispered next to her ear. "It's okay to be selfish sometimes"

Lisa let out a deep sigh. Her head hung low. "I know". She took one last glance at the man who almost got completely lost in between the trees before turning back to Jennie. "Let's follow him to the camp and keep hidden. We will play it save and attack when night falls, when he's asleep"
