Chapter Five 🎭 A Novel Approach 🎭
Toni stood in the music room of the highschool with her eyes closed as she played the violin. When she finished the song she was playing she slowly opened her eyes. Someone started clapping making her quickly turn around to see Scott standing in the doorway. She awkwardly cleared her throat and ran a hand through her hair.
"Phantom Of The Opera- the song. It was Phantom Of The Opera... Just not as dramatic as the original." Toni said as Scott walked in, "That was really good." He said making her smile at him before clearing her throat. "Do you uh- Do you need anything?" Toni asked and he nodded, "Right, Malia found this book at Tracy's house. The cover had the same guy we saw at the club." Scott said before handing her a printed copy of the book.
"The Dread Doctors?" She asked, glancing up at him before opening the packet, "Yeah, heard of them?" He asked and she shook her head. "Honestly, I don't know much about the supernatural past Werewolves. I mean, I'd never even heard of the Kanima until a few days ago." She said while flipping through the packet before looking up at Scott, "Do you want me to read this?" She asked and he shook his head..
"Well, not yet. I'm still only on chapter one." He said and she hummed slightly before raising her eyebrows, looking at him with curiosity. "You guys do this a lot, huh?" She asked making him look at her, "Do what?" He asked and she smiled. "Get involved... Fight supernatural bad guys." She said and he chuckled slightly and nodded, "Yeah, I guess..." He said and she nodded slightly.
"It's cool. You guys help lives even when it's not your job. I think that's really cool." She said and he smiled at her for a moment before she took a deep breath and awkwardly looked back down at the packet. "What about the author? If he knew all about these guys, shouldn't we be talking to him?" She asked and he sighed and nodded, "We thought about that, but it's pretty much a dead end." He said.
Toni looked at the Acknowledgement page before taking a step towards Scott, holding it out for him to see. "What about this guy? Dr. Gabriel Valack?" She asked before looking up at him to see realization cross over his features. "What? Do you know him?" She asked and he nodded, "Yeah... And I know where he's at." He said and she furrowed her brows.
"Where?" She asked, "Eichen House." He said and she raised her eyebrows. "The insane asylum? I'm no history buff but I've heard some pretty fucked up stuff has happened there. You're not gonna go there just to talk to this guy are you?" She asked and he nodded slightly, "if he's on the acknowledgement page then it means he knows something." He said and she nodded, "I can go with you guys?" She asked and he looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"You want to go with us? Are you sure? Eichen House isn't a joke." He said and she smiled at him, "People are becoming supernatural over night and theres these men in mask with arrows on strings. I don't know but it sounds to me like you guys chould use as much help as you can get. I'd like to be that help, I'm sure my brother would to." She said and he nodded slightly.
