"Mom" Katsuki sobbed out, "Dad"
His house was empty aside from himself. They always left him alone, they always ignored him. He couldn't handle it anymore, the feelings he'd been suppressing for week finally overpowering his control. So he sat on the kitchen floor, desperately wiping at his face as his heart ached. He just wanted his parents. He wanted them to see him, smile at him when he showed them his test scores, yell at him when he smashed plates on accident, be disappointed when they saw his declining english grades.
He wanted to be noticed. Why couldn't he be important?
"Mom" He couldn't handle it. Why did it have to hurt so much? Why was he always left aching when his parents returned, only to ignore him as they switched from phone calls to meetings before finally leaving again.
Wasn't he important too? Wasn't he more than just a part of the house? Wasn't he noticeable?
Katsuki couldn't bring himself to stay in this empty house any longer, it hurt. He pulled himself up and stumbled to the door. Slipping on his shoes, Katsukiwiped at his face again.
It was cold outside, but he couldn't bring himself to care. His face was warm from his emotional outburst. He walked along the streets, nearing the city that surrounded the area. He'd forgotten his phone at home. Home, could he even call it that. It was a vacant house he came to sleep, eat, and clean on the weekends. He had money, his parents brought in plenty. His bank account always had more than enough for groceries, cleaning supplies, clothes and anything else he may need or want.
He wasn't as happy about that as he should've been. He was far better off than Pinkcheeks and Deku, but... Everytime he heard them talk about their families, his heart would hurt. Was it the money that kept his parent's away? They had plenty, too much even. There was too much for the amount of people using it. And dammit he just wanted his parents to stop working. Even for an hour. He wanted a hug. A smile, a look, a word.
He wanted to be noticed. He wanted to be loved.
So he wandered around, the wallet in his pocket reminding him of his parents with every step he took. He just wanted something. Anything to get his mind off of these overbearing thoughts. A cat cafe was a few blocks ahead. He headed for that. cats would notice him, they would let him feel their warmth.
The bell rang as he opened the door. The smile and 'welcome' he received made his heart sting. Why the hell was he so hurt over attention? He always got it at school, why couldn't he be happy with that?
He paid for an hour. Katsuki went and sat at one of the chabudai tables, relaxing into a cross legged position on the cushioned floor. A siamese cat immediately sauntered up to him. He picked up the cream coloured feline, running his fingers against its fur.
His heart ached as he pet the cat, giving it his full attention. Why couldn't his parents look at him, notice him? Why couldn't they notice him? He was their son, right? He wasn't just another stranger, right?
'Myao' He looked to the cat. It was staring straight into his eyes, looking at him. He bit his lip, fighting tears. Looking at him, it was looking at him. He wanted that from his parents. A simple glance to acknowledge his existence. He shouldn't be crying over this stupid thing. He didn't need his parents recognition.
He wanted it; really, really wanted it. He hugged the cat close, sniffling. He shouldn't be so upset. Yet he was, and he really hated that.
"Bakugou?" A soft voice called. His eyes flickered up to a lavender haired teen. The boy wore a sweatshirt that was very obviously too large for his sinewy frame. Dark crescents marred the skin underneath their eyes.
"Who're you?" He returned, hoping the other would ignore the way his voice wavered.
"Name's Shinsou. I saw you at the sports festival"
Ah yes, the event that he'd hoped, prayed, and pleaded for his parents to notice him in. Then hadn't even read the message he sent about it, just like the rest. The 'delivered' mark taunting him everytime he sent a message. They never read anything he sent. Sometimes he wondered if they'd muted his number.
He hadn't noticed that he zoned out until the teen crouched in front of him. "Are you okay?" Katsuki tried to stop the surprise from showing on his face. It had been so damn long ago that someone had asked that.
"I'm fine" He replied, averting his eyes to stare at the cat in his arms as he resumed petting it.
"Sure. Can I sit here?"
"Go ahead, but get your own damn cat"
The teen offered a smile and Katsuki felt the aching in his heart lift by a little. This teen noticed him. Looked at him, talked to him. This teen asked about him. This teen, Shinsou, stayed with him, offering a presence that had him feeling relieved. He didn't have to yell, he didn't have to make a show. He was simply noticed.
He wiped at his eyes, holding a hand up to hide his face.
"I'm here every weekend. Tuesday evenings too" He was told. Katsuki nodded.
"I'll see you a lot then" He mumbled after a few seconds.
"I look forward to having a fellow cat friend" The teen said, causing Katsuki to give a wet laugh.
"Same then"
He liked being noticed. His parents didn't, but... Maybe they would someday. For now, he could enjoy the boy's presence.
Afterall. Shinsou looked at him.
