The door opened and Katsuki turned from his position on the couch. Shinsou usually knocked, but maybe he didn't want to wait in the cold for any longer. When his parents walked by, looking tired, Katsuki's smiled dropped.

"Dad?"  He whispered. "Please look at me, I'm here. Please Dad"

He was ignored by the man, his father simply continuing his trek to who knows where without so much as a glance.

Katsuki bit back tears. "Mom? Can I... talk to you?"

His mother didn't answer like his father. She was absorbed in whatever was on her phone screen, ignoring every other thing in the world. She didn't look at him either.

Katsuki sank his teeth deep into his bottom lip, wincing when he accidentally cut through the soft flesh. He licked at it as he left the room, going to the front door to pull on his shoes. It was dark outside, the streetlights being the only source of light.

He shivered as he walked out the door. He wore a long sleeve shirt and pants. Nothing that would help against the cold. Snowflakes fell as tears clung to his lashes, the freezing ice crystals clashing with his warm face.

He couldn't bring himself to really go anywhere, so he went to the park. He brushed off one of the swings and sat on it, hooking his arms around the rubber wrapped chains and wiping at his eyes. No one was around, the thin layer of snow in the ground untouched aside from his footprints.

He finally sobbed, frantically scrubbing at his face with his sleeves, leaving the skin raw and red.

Wasn't he important? Or was he just... another distraction? Why was he always stuck feeling like this. All he wanted was a word, a glance, a look. Anything.

"Mom please" He whispered out, voice wavering as he cried.

He couldn't handle it anymore, it was too much. Far too much. Katsuki could barely breathe, gasping at the frigid air.

He was weighted down with this weird feeling of pain. It hurts so bad why couldn't he just be important too?

He was too overwhelmed, his body shaking to try and calm himself. The cold didn't help with that. He couldn't rub at his face anymore, his skin so raw that it hurt to touch. So he let himself go, literally and metaphorically. He dropped off the swing into the cold, wet ground. It soaked through his clothes rather quickly. He sobbed into the open air, the peaceful silence being destroyed.

When he couldn't cry anymore, Katsuki sat up and moved from the swings towards the playground's main area and lowered himself back into his knees to play in the snow. He was so cold, sopping wet from the crystals and freezing air serving to further chill him. His whole body hurt, but he didn't want to go home. Not when it was to the empty silence where he was ignored.

So he played, forming castles and tunnels with the quickly accumulating snow. It was already a few inches, enough to carpet everything. It was landing on his body, yet it didn't melt as it normally would have. It took longer, allowing it to build up.

He shook violently, jerking so hard that he could barely think. That was good though. He didn't want to think about this.

A coat was draped over him and Katsuki blinked, slowly turning to see a familiar figure.

"It's pretty cold out here, huh?" Shinsou smiled at him. Katsuki nodded, reaching out for the teen to join him. The lavender teen shook his head, grabbing one of his hands.

"Come on, you gotta change. We can come back out after if you want"

Katsuki simply nodded, too exhausted to properly respond. He followed the boy to the house he'd rarely been to. Shinsou opened the door and pulled him in.
