Hey everyone 🙂 And we finally arrive hands-in-hands with my favourite month of the year—October. Coming straight to the point-it's Ooorah's anniversary month, a profile we all love and care deeply about. As we celebrate Ooorah's tenth anniversary, there's a new sub-genre in its honour: AnniversaryPunk. (Yes, count on us to pull out a sub-genre out of nowhere!)
Happy Anniversary, Ooorah! ❤️ 🥳 ✨
Time flew so fast. Days passed, months flew and just like that—ten years had gone in a heartbeat. A decade of happiness filled with our mothertroopers across Wattpad. You know, I've been here for just 31 months, yet it feels like an era together ❤️ This is what the Ooorah does—it welcomes you with open arms and accepts you just as you are. No judgement at all. Love at its truest.
The Ooorah was initially "Oorah" before the adding the extra "O" as we see today. And if my research is correct, the profile was called TheForbiddenPlanet before Angus changed it to Ooorah.
Fun fact: Did you know that the name Tevun-Krus was suggested by ashiqtnt to AngusEcrivain and is Vulcan for month? (Source: https://www.wattpad.com/20415216-tevun-krus-1-first-contact-welcome-aboard/comment/48610340 )
The first Tevun-Krus issue was published on Aug 20, 2013. It had: An article by DavidGibbs6, Interview with TheOrangutan, They Came Out Of Nowhere (FPTK_Contest), a short story by JJMarmite, Spotlight on Nika_Yaya, Phoenix Rising by Arizona_Red -- a review by British_Beauty and a short story by DavidGibbs6.
It might interest you to know TheOrangutan was one of the earliest contributors at the Ooorah and it's due to his invaluable support that gave Ooorah the impetus it needed.
Thank you for everything you have done! ❤️
The second issue was published almost six months later on March 1, 2014. The best part about AngusEcrivain was—he didn't give up on his passion project called Tevun-Krus. He kept at it and believed in it. Believed in himself. And it's his hard work, his belief, his passion that is for all to see today. After Angus, the mantle was taken up by Mike MadMikeMarsbergen who took the Ooorah to new heights with his dedication and vision. Jinn/jinnis is doing a grand job now ❤️ I know it sounds cheesy, but 'tis the truth 😄
In the Ooorah mothership, currently this is us:
AngusEcrivain, MadMikeMarsbergen, jinnis, Nosleneillor, Elveloy, angerbda, CarolinaC, JeffreyVonHauger, Arveliot, sleepingdraco, JohnNedWill, SuVida777, MattMacBride, sacredlilac, EvelynHail, LovelyBurns, Reffster, Wuckster, WilliamJJackson, LittleVee, RainerSalt, GaiaNovae, and me! (And somewhere, hiding, perhaps a great 🦧 ).
And if I missed any names...well, you know where to find me (in the inline comments ;P)
AnniversaryPunk isn't easy to interpret. As with different types of punk, we can't specify or pinpoint a particular meaning to define this sub-genre. Just like music, people will say, 'That's punk', 'No, that's punk'. 'This is punk!' There are so many diverse opinions and it's okay. Anniversarypunk can't be contained in a definite box, so to say.
Punk is normally perceived as something negative and promoting anarchy, but punk is positive in many, many ways. Anniversarypunk excitingly sparked ideas, their concept and their implementation; and about the fate, role and obligation(s) of the individual in the global society. More than content, it was more about the style.
Coming back to the Ooorah's 10th anniversary celebrations, here is a nostalgic moment to savour:
We sign off for now ❤️ I'll meet you in December with another exciting, innovative sub-genre(try and guess the sub-genre, if you can!) .
Bye and best wishes, Nab =]/Nablai
