Despite the fact that it was so late Luke didn't make any kind of effort to be quiet once they got back to his house. For Vee it wasn't really that unusual to be making noise when stumbling home in the middle of the night after a party but that was mostly because the only thing that resembled a parental figure in her life currently was her sex addicted older sister. Her limited knowledge from movies and TV shows was indicating that Luke should have been more worried about getting caught.

"Did you want anything to drink?" He asked, not even bothering to whisper.

Vee shook her head, looking around but not being able to see much in the dark. "No, I'm good." She bounced up and down on the balls of her feet, probably a side effect of all the coffee she'd had at the diner.

"Suit yourself." He shrugged as he opened the fridge and pulled out some milk.

Vee watched on as he walked around the kitchen and pulled out different things and it wasn't until he started mixing them together that she realised he was making hot chocolate. She let out an incredulous laugh as he put the mug in the microwave to warm the milk and he turned around and raised his eyebrows at her; silently asking her what she thought was so funny.

"You're making hot chocolate." She stated as if it should have been clear why she found that amusing.

"I still don't know why you think that's funny Vee." He hopped up onto the counter and cocked his head to the side.

Vee just shrugged and shook her head. "You just don't strike me as the kind of guy who comes home and makes himself hot chocolate. Especially after being at a high school party for most of the night."

"You know, you're wrong about that actually." He shot her a cheeky grin. "I've spent more time with you tonight than I did at that party. I only got there a few minutes before I stopped you from punching that guy in the face."

"I was not going to punch him." Vee scoffed indignantly, crossing her arms over her chest.

Luke raised his eyebrows again. "Really? Could've fooled me."

He jumped off the counter just before the timer on the microwave hit zero and went over to pull out the mug. After stirring it one more time he indicated that she should follow him as he walked out of the kitchen.

Vee followed him up a set of stairs and into the first room on the left of the hallway. For a moment Vee was just completely overwhelmed; her room was neat and very simple but this room was a catastrophe.  There were clothes and shoes littered all over the floor, posters covered almost every inch of the walls, and she couldn't even see the top of the desk through the collection of CD's and loose sheets of paper.

"This is the part where I offer you some of my clothes to sleep in, right?" Luke asked, pushing some papers out of the way on the desk so he could set his mug down.

"Or you could just not do that." Vee replied awkwardly. She wasn't sure what it was about Luke but the way he tried to make her comfortable always seemed to have the opposite effect.

"Oh come on Vee," He laughed, walking over to her and placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm just trying to be the teen heart-throb in the movie that is our lives."

Sarcasm was dripping from his words and Vee couldn't help but crack a smile. "This isn't a movie that I'd want to see."

Luke let out a laugh and picked up a pair of pants from the floor before smelling them quickly and nodding to himself. "Just wait here, I'm going to get changed."

With Luke gone, Vee actually didn't know what to do with herself. She wasn't comfortable enough around the guy to just make herself at home in his room so she kind of just stood still and looked down at her feet while she waited for him to come back.

Just as she was beginning to think that it was taking Luke an awfully long time to get changed the bathroom door swung open and he walked back into the room.

"Why are you not worried about waking up your parents?" Vee asked because it was really starting to bug her.

"They aren't here." Luke replied as if it should have been obvious, which Vee realised it kind of should have been. "Come on, I'll show you the guest room."

The guest room was the polar opposite of Luke's room; it was neat and Vee could actually see the floor which was a massive plus. Almost as soon as they'd entered the room Luke was gone again, calling out to Vee and telling her he'd be back in a second, and sure enough a few moments later he returned with his hot chocolate and laptop in hand. Vee was about to ask him what he was doing when he walked past her and made himself comfortable on the bed.

"Dude, you can't just invite yourself into my bed." She pointed out, her eyebrows pulling together.

"Technically it's my bed so I can kind of do whatever I want." He pointed out and even though Vee wanted to argue against what he'd said he was kind of right.

"What are you doing?" She asked instead.

Luke pulled up the covers so they were covering his legs and typed something into the laptop before he answered. "I figured you'd had way too much coffee to make sleep a real possibility so I figured we could watch a movie or something until your caffeine high eventually wears off. So come and get into the bed so we can pick something to watch."

Vee was a little bit taken aback, not used to being told what to do or really going along with it when she was, but she went over and get into the bed next to Luke anyway. He scooted over closer to the wall to give her some room and to make sure she didn't feel like he was intruding in her space which she appreciated.

"Alright, so what should we watch?" He asked, handing his mug to Vee so he could type properly.

"I don't know." Vee shrugged, she didn't really watch a lot of movies; she preferred TV shows but it was way too early in her potential friendship with Luke to open that can of worms.

"How about Mean Girls?" He suggested, turning slightly towards Vee to gauge her reaction. He almost looked offended when she scrunched up her face and shook her head.

"I've seen it about a million times and I just don't find it funny anymore." She told him honestly, not seeming to realise how distressed he appeared to be because of her answer.

"Oh my god." He shook his head, a look of horror on his face. "That's it; I don't think we can be friends." Vee laughed at how dramatic he was being and eventually Luke joined in.

In the end they managed to settle on something they both liked and just as the opening credits flashed up Vee turned to Luke.

"Can I have some of that hot chocolate?" She whispered even though she didn't need to; there was just something about the atmosphere in the room that made it seem like whispering was the best way to communicate.

Luke nodded as he handed her the mug, his eyes staying fixed on the screen. When she was done she handed it back to him and after that every time he took a drink he'd then offer it to Vee. It was weird for her, being so comfortable around someone that she'd just met , and she wondered how long it would take for her to convince herself that this wasn't normal all over again.

"Hey Vee," Luke spoke up about twenty minutes into the movie, his voice not raising any higher than a whisper either. "We're in bed together, watching Netflix and sharing hot chocolate; I think that officially makes us friends."
