Jennifer blinked twice at that.

Jennifer: " Hydra?... So it is truly here?"

Hinako: " you didn't believe me when I told you?!"

Jennifer looked over at the pissed off woman.

Jennifer: " not that I didn't believe you, I've been through a lot and saw a hundreds of mystical creatures. It's just, I didn't think Hydra would really appear around..."

She refrained from continuing.

Hinako: " right, around the small tiny good-for-nothing Porton. We got the message."

Jennifer: " sorry."

Karin: " anyway, Hydra was tasked with guarding the kingdom and killing whoever thinks of escaping."

Gin: " hold on, then how comes we have a person from Atlantis here?"

Hinako looked at him and closed her eye.

Hinako: " over the time, the power of mages became stronger. Some finally managed to reach the level where they can travel up to land and back. Yet they weren't strong enough to bring everyone along. As for why Hydra couldn't stop them anymore, is because it is ageing."

Jin: " ageing?..."

Karin: " Hydra is nothing but a mortal creature that gained a long lifespan to carry on its duties. Nevertheless, it's bound to age and get tired."

Hinako: " if it wasn't the case, rather than losing an eye I could have been reaped apart."

Ryan: " how did you escape?"

Hinako looked away for a moment before turning back to him.

Hinako: " it was mom, she was a mage, and she had enough magic to make a trip for two people. Dad said that she has to take me out first and that he would be catching up soon, as to not attract attention. But unfortunately Hydra came after us and attacked us. Mom managed to get to the surface and found a drifting planche. She used it to get me away while she fought off the Hydra on her own. I've spent months waiting on the shores, hoping for the slightest hint that she had survived, waiting for dad to arrive, but nothing happened..."

They softened their looks as they heard her story.

Elie: " sorry for that..."

Hinako: " it doesn't matter anymore, the whole island's people are my family now. They treat me very well, even though they mock me whenever I bring the Hydra topic, but they're still nice."

Ban: " what happened with Hydra ?"

Hinako: " when I was still living in Atlantis, it was sleeping. Even though people traveled out and back, it never chased them. Maybe it was me and my mother's bad luck that it happened to wake up while we were making our escape."

Karin: " a deep slumber could fit more here. If what you're saying is true then it should have been sleeping for years now."

Gin: " there is this one thing that I don't understand..."

Everyone shifted their focus to the boy.

Gin: " why didn't you ask for help? If there were people able to make trips to the surface and back, if they asked for help from our mages and benders, all of Atlantis people could have been evacuated."

Hinako: " because it's against the rules..."

A moment of silence passed over them as she voiced that.

Hinako: " no escaping, no asking for help from the surface. Those two rules are our taboo back there. And if you ever think of doing that, a divine punishment would fall upon you."
