3rd Pov
"Hello class, today we will introduce our new student; Darryl."
The brown haired boy shyly smiled as he awkwardly waved at his fellow classmates, his glasses tilted to the left side of his nose bridge and Zak could practically see the awkwardness of this boy radiating out of him like a big colourful rainbow.
"Can you sit next to Zak? He is the one wearing a blue shirt," said Mx. Lee pointing over to Zak who could only stare in disbelief at the teacher.
After sitting there in absolute silence for a moment (having an absolute meltdown and existential crisis), he waved at the boy and pointed to the seat beside him.
Darryl returned the wave and awkwardly walked over to the desk where Zak had been pointing at and quietly slid into his seat while placing his bag down onto the ground.
Zak watched as the class went on and every once in a while would take a small glance at the brown haired boy.
Zak noticed that Darryl would fiddle with his fingers an awful lot, he couldn't tell either it was because he was nervous or he just enjoyed to fiddle with things (Zak presumed it was because he was nervous).
The class continued on and Zak grinned as the clock struck 12:00, it was lunch time.
He grabbed his lunch box and dashed outside, unfortunately the teachers didn't like the kids to eat indoors since sometimes their powers can get a bit..wonky.
Zak didn't mind that much though, it was better than getting cramped with the other students (who would annoyingly show off their cool ass powers much to Zak's dismay) in a small classroom that honestly is probably one of the smaller classrooms in the whole school.
Zak looked up and saw the new and extremely shy student eating what seemed to be muffins, nothing but muffins.
'What the fuck? Since when were children allowed to eat muffins outside?' He couldn't tell if either Darryl liked muffins for lunch and this was completely normal for him, he was on a diet, or he was just an extremely strange kid.
After contemplating for a moment Zak shrugged and sat next to Darryl, he could tell the brunet immediately noticed him as soon as he sat down but he didn't seem to want to say anything about it.
"So, your the new student right?" Asked Zak.
Darryl nodded in response while quietly chewing on another muffin.
"What's your power? Fire? Ice?" Asked Zak.
He didn't really want to tell Darryl about him not having any powers unless it was absolutely necessary since that would be an embarrassing first impression to such an adorable boy.
Darryl's eyes widened as if he was panicking for a moment, but why would he? It's not like he had no powers just like Zak had none.
"Umm... fire?" It sounded more of a question then an answer but maybe he was just nervous, it was his first day here anyway so Zak naturally just shrugged it off and pretended like it was definitely normal.
Darryl fiddled with his fingers for a bit, Zak took notice immediately. He felt like it would be rude if he just asks why he fiddles so much since it could be a sensitive reason so he just sat there, staring at the fiddling fingers.
The silence between them continued for a few moments but luckily the school bell rang indicating that it was time to go back to class, a saviour from the awkward silence is what Zak thought.
Darryl quickly put his muffin into a container and got up while Zak grabbed his lunch bag, grabbed Darryl's wrist, and ran back to class. He could hear Darryl mumbling things from behind but he took no notice about the words he was saying, probably just asking what the actual hell Zak was doing with him.
