^chapter eight^

       hunter walked down stairs with rascal on his shoulder and amity close behind. hunter signed "what do you want lilith?" he said glaring at her while he walked down the last few steps.

she returned the glare "amity, i need to talk to him by myself." she said trying not to sound mean

amity nodded "see y'all later tell luz i had to go home." she said before the walked out the door.

"wheres the others?" he asked walking towards her and stopped a few feet away.his guard was up -as always- you could tell his eyes narrowed, ears not missing a beat, stance firm,and his whole body just tense. lilith just had a unimpressed face on with crossed arms.

"they are still in town." she replied "i wanted to come home. to speak with you without them here." she explained. he narrowed his eyes farther.

"ok well, you have my attention." he told her.

"alright when you didn't tell luz why you are here i was going to leave it alone. until we saw this" she pulled up the wanted poster and he winced. " i was curious. what did you do? and why was your side cut when we found you? why does the coven want you so bad?" she questioned

"nope not telling you any of that. it's my business."he said cautiously

she didn't like that answer "brat! why are you so important to coven that they want you for five million snails?!" she questioned him.

"i'm telling you I.don't.Know! belos just said that i was a important part of the day of unity! he never specifically said why! what do you want me to do? lie?! 'oh yea lilith belos said i was meant to give my head for the day of unity!'" he said with sarcasm

"don't get cute with me." lilith said

"or else what? your gonna turn me in to the coven? newsflash you betraying the coven is still remembered in that palace. they would take me and you in. so that would fail." in told her with a smirk.

lilith gave him a look " actually.. what did you do? when i betrayed the emperor i was only wanted for fifty thousand." she reminded him.

"ok look. use your brain, it's not that hard. just put to and two together. un- belos doesn't like wild magic,what do i have..?" he sarted explaining slowly and he pointed to rascal still on his shoulder . " a wild magic palismen." he finished explaining.

"wait so he kicked you out because you have a palismen..?" lilith asked quietly
"and... is that why you were hurt when you got here...?"

hunter stayed  quiet avoiding eye contact.
that was enough of an answer for lilith.

" seriously? but- you're- you're a kid who would do that to a kid because they have a palismen??!!" she asked in close to furry.

"look i don't make the rules! that was the emperors coven! you know that! belos gave you orders and you followed! i knew the punishment if i kept a palismen and i-." he was cut off.

"the punishment!? is the punishment almost killing you!!??" she snapped. " and that's how the coven is?? i don't know if you've realized but the coven is fucking garbage!  and this just proves that! belos almost fucking killed you because you kept something he didn't like! that old man is the fucking problem of the boiling isles! he tricked me and almost killed edalyn! and now this?! i don't like you brat but luz does so i'm putting up with you for her sake! it's not that i care that he almost killed you it's that you're a child and he almost killed a child! fucking hate that old man!" she spirled.

hunter stood there not knowing what to do. until he busted out with coughs rough coughs ones that make you question if they will throw up or not.once he was done he nervously glanced over at lilith who had a serious face on.

"you have been coughing ever since you got here.
you sick?" she asked crossing her arms again.

that only seemed to add to hunters anxiety "uh.... nope! not sick! totally fine! -pffttt- why would i hide that!? heheheh.. YES i'm fine."  he sputtered out.

"you sure because-." she started but got interrupted.

" oh look! that weird bird word is...." he started pointing a finger out the window. ". . . actually what is it doing." he was still glaring out the window but had a confused face on. lilith glanced where he was pointing at.

"AH! NO HOOTY!" she shouted before running out the door.

hunter quickly ran up the stairs and once he got into the dusty closet they called his room he sighed in relief. "that was close."

chirp chirp chirp! ( you will have to tell them eventually.) rascal chirped

"i know just-.. not right now.." he whispered  he looked out his and saw king,eda, and luz walking towards the house hunter sighed "welp luz is probably gonna be up here soon." he said sitting down on the sleeping bag.
