*still Zara's POV

"Go on" she murmured
  I walked slowly towards the bed and looked more closely at my little girl, she looked really frail and if it was even possible she looked like she had lost so much weight since this morning but I decided it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I watched her tiny chest rise up and then go back down as she breathed in and out, my eyes shifted to her swollen abdomen and I couldn't take it anymore, I turned into Mami's embrace behind me and cried
"Sshhh..." She started while rubbing my back soothingly in circular movements  "...don't cry, you might wake her up, she'll be fine In shaa Allah"
But I could hear it in her voice, she was fighting the tears, I could see Rafik over Mami's shoulder,he was standing by the wall staring at Ameera,his eyes were glassy.
We stayed like that for a while, Rafik by the wall and Mami holding me, all of us trying to reign in our emotions and stop the tears from flowing. A knock came on the door before it opened and in came the doctor from earlier. I broke free from mami's embrace as he started talking to me
"I'll like to speak with you now if you are ready?"
I wiped my cheeks and nodded following him out the door
"If you could take a seat please Mrs..."
"Abdullahi" I filled in for him quickly, I was in no mood to tell him that it was in fact miss and not Mrs because the moment he asked me to sit I had a gut feeling that whatever he had to say wasn't good, but I did as he said and sat on one of the seats by the door to the room. He sat facing me and was courteous enough to put a good amount of space between us  before he started talking
"When you brought her in we did a check and as you had suggested the Kasai procedure had failed which resulted in the coloring of her eyes. Her stomach was swollen as a result of ascites and the pressure coming from her stomach caused a part of her esophagus to rupture and bleed, which is why she threw up the blood..."
My heart was sinking more and more as he spoke ad I gave up fighting the tears
"...there is a need for her to have a liver transplant as soon as possible so with your permission she needs to be enlisted on the waiting list for a liver"
I opened my mouth but no words came out so I just nodded
"I'm really sorry about what you are going through but I'm sure she will be fine and I can assure you that  she is in safe hands, I assume you will want to know more about the surgery so the surgeon will come up later to explain the procedure and answer any questions that you may have"
I knew there was no use in speaking 'cause I couldn't really think straight so I only nodded and watched him stand and walk away.

*Sadiq
   I rang the bell and as always it was flunged open almost immediately by Hafsat
"Good morning Ya Sadiq" she said letting me in
"Morning Hafsat, how are you today?" I said walking in and listening for voices anywhere in the house
"I'm fine alhamdulillah" she replied locking the door
"Good to hear, where's Zara?..." I asked turning to face her "...I want to return this novel I borrowed but the house seems very quiet"
"Yes its is, she's not around, they went out early in the morning and have not been back since then"
"They?"
"Yes, her, Mami and Ya Rafik , they had to take Ameera to the hospital"
"Hospital?...why? What happened?" I got a bad feeling when she said hospital
"I'm not really sure why but I heard ya Zee say something about Ameera running a temperature and her eye being yellow, I didn't really get the whole thing 'cause she was talking fast but she said something about a procedure, that something had happened or so"
Now I was confused
"Temperature, yellow eyes,procedure it doesn't make..." And then it hit me
"The Kasai procedure failed" I whispered my eyes widening
"What did you say?"
"Which hospital did they go to?" I asked quickly
"I...I'm not sure"
"Where are Abbas and Aneesa"
"In their rooms" Hafsat answered and I ran up to the stairs and called them
"Which hospital did they go to"
"Sofia°" they answered simultaneously, I turned to hurry out the door when Abbas stopped me
"Ya Sadiq wait, we want to come with"
"C'mon then. Hurry"
      In the car I tried calling Zara but I heard the phone ring in the car
"I'm with her phone.. " Aneesa said showing it to me through the rear view mirror  "...both her and Mami left their phones"
"And Rafik's?"
"We tried, its switched off, his battery is probably low" Abbas said
"What time did they leave for the hosoital?"
"It was almost 8:00" Aneesa said
"And it's 11:43 now, Ya Allah I hope Ameera is okay"
