Third pov

Marinette is the one to sit everyone down once she has the energy. They need to start making plans. "What I'm about to say is something none of you are going to like. Dinah has offered therapy sessions, they're free and there's no pressure to accept. But in my opinion it's something everyone should consider."

It makes everyone but Nino and Marc visibly uneasy.

"Think about it. That's all I ask. Personally I'm taking her up on it."

Now that's she's said that, she moves on. "We need to think about what to do now. We're allowed to stay here for as long as we need, but it can't be forever. Sooner or later we'll have to face the music."

"First, we need to see if we can help in Paris." Marc says carefully. "As far as everyone knows we just dissapeared. If we go back for a while, stretch our legs and," He sighs, "try to sort out what's left there, maybe that would make planning further ahead easier."

There was an agreement to that from everyone. They needed to think more, think and see what was left.

"I agree with Marc. There's too much unfinished buisness at the moment. We have to deal with that first." Nino said.

Marinette is nodding along as she listenes. "Alright. That's what we'll do. I'll talk to Bruce. In the meantime you guys do whatever you need to, just make sure you can be reached."

They split up to go do their own things.

Adrien and Luka were the only ones to stay in the room, both feeling that the room was too warm and comfortable to leave it.

A year is enough to change a lot of people.

Some changes for the better, and some become worse.

********************************************

Marinette can safely say that she feels like a completely new person as she steps onto Parisian soil for the first time in months. There's both a heavy feeling on her shoulders, and a spring in her step.

Paris still looked like a battlefield, but one on it's way to recovery.

A lot of buildings are either ruined or partially destroyed, the latter category, once determined stable, were used for shelter. At least, that's what Tim told her.

There's temoprary buildings and tents all over, different zones set up as sleeping quarters, food stations and medical care.

There's no one that noticed her straight away, leaving Marinette with some time to just take everything in.

"Marinette!"

It takes her a second to process who it is that's coming towards her.

"Alix."

Alix looks nothing like the last time Marinette saw her. Her pink hair is dull and put into a ponytail, her roots showing clearly and there's a thin layer of dirt on her face. Her clothes look well used and like they've seen better days.

"I'm glad to see you're okay. I've been trying to find out how many of our classmates survived." Alix confessed. "I owe you an apology. They told us about what Lila did. I'm sorry we treated you so badly."

"I forgive you, you weren't even close to as bad as some of the others were." Marinette answered. "By the way, how many have of our classmates have you found?"

"Well, Rose, Juleka, Sabrina, Alya, Kim and Max. I've tried to find others, but it's been kinda hectic all around here. Have you seen anyone?" Alix asked.

Marinette nodded, figuring it wouldn't hurt to tell her. "Adrien, Nino and Chloe. They ended up with me after the fight. We were pretty badly injured so they flew us to a hospital in the US."

It's not the full truth, but it's enough to not need any more questions from Alix.

"Well, it's good to know you're alive. Do you want me to show you to where your parents are?"

Marinette nods. "Yes please."

Adrien and Chloe are the only ones left at the former Young Justice headquarters for the time being. The rest are off to Paris.

In an effort to get themselves into shape and kill time, they'd searched for a training room. They found an old one pretty quickly and checked it out.

The fact that the whole place was still functional despite not having been actively used in a good few years was impressive in Adrien's opinion.

"Hey, look at this." Chloe held up a ball attached to a chain. "It's a little heavy, but I like it."

"Wanna spar?" Adrien suggested, grabbing a training staff he'd found.

Chloe grinned, swinging the ball in a circle a few times. "Sure. Rules?"

Adrien got into position. "No hits under the belt."

"Alright."

They went at each other, the adrenaline pumping as they blocked each others hits.

Adrien jumped back, landing gracefully on his feet. The ball came flying towards him, missing by just a few centimeters.
It dented the wall before Chloe pulled it back.

"Nice." Chloe examined the ball with glee.

Adrien chuckled. He was prepared to see it flying towards him again and jumped into the air, noting that he jumped almost as high as he tends to do while in Chat Noir's form.

Seeing that Adrien had jumped out of the way, Chloe swung the ball his way.
"Not so fast, kitty."

Adrien just laughed, using the staff to redirect the ball when it was about to hit him.

Fighting without it being a fight for lives felt amazing. Adrien couldn't remember the last time there was nothing at stake, nothing depending on him being the best.

Or, maybe he could?

There was this time, right before they recruited Chloe. Him and Marinette had found a factory roof one night. No one around them for miles.

They'd spent the night sparring and laughing.

The sudden hit of intense nostalgia makes him falter, just enough for the ball to hit its mark.

He grunted at the contact but unlike before the final battle, he felt no pain.
"Come on, can't do better than that?"

Time skip

Later that night Adrien took a shower before he snuck out to look at then night sky. He wanted some time to think for himself.
