 Diana's POV

Diana did not know how she had got here, or where here was for that matter.

She had woken up in a strange bed in a strange room to the sound of a loud shrieking. There was a box with flashing numbers and when she panicked and hit it, there was a crunch and the noise stopped.

After the fog faded, Diana got up and had a look around. She appeared to be in a small living quarters. There were many strange things lying around, like the small flat box that kept buzzing and the clothes laying on a nearby chair were rather bizarre.

This was definitely not Paradise Island. Her mother was definitely going to kill her.

It was then that Diana noticed the Amazonian trinkets strewn around the room.

Some armor, a shield, she recognized that sword! And wait- was that?

That was definitely the Lasso of Truth.

What manner of being could be powerful enough to get past an army of Amazons, kidnap her, and get away with an artifact like the Lasso of Truth?

That's when she heard a knock on the door.

Diana snatched the first thing she saw and retreated back to the first room where she had woken up.

    A voice spoke.

She didn't know what had been said, but she knew one thing. That was no woman.

    She'd been taken by men.

The knock came again, and this time she caught her name. They were coming for her.

Fear coiled like a serpent in her chest. She couldn't breathe.

There was a groan of metal and a snap, followed by the sound of footsteps.

Diana clutched her lamp like a lifeline and braced herself.

The steps came closer and closer.

    They paused.

Diana could see the shadows under the door.

Her heart felt like it was going to leap out of her chest and run away, leaving her behind.

No. She was an Amazon. She'll be brave.

There was a man at the door.

Diana glared at her arms as if to scare the tremors away. It didn't work.

The door creaked and a beam of brighter light streamed into the room.

Diana stood tall with her lamp as her kidnapper stepped in. He looked almost as surprised as she did. Perhaps he did not expect her to be awake yet?

The man was tall and intimidating. Not that much taller than a full-grown Amazon, but they were some of the greatest warriors in history so that did not mean much. He also looked very strong and seemed to carry himself with hidden confidence.

The man looked at Diana and raise his hands saying, "Hey there. What are you doing here?"

She had no idea what that meant but it couldn't be good.

The man was obviously unsatisfied with her reaction.

"Calm down! I was looking for Diana. Do you know where she is?"

Diana flinched at the sound of her name. All at once, the tension broke. She was enraged by the man who had the audacity to snatch her away from home. By Artemus, she would not give him the satisfaction by cowering.

"Who sent you? What do you want with me!"

Now the man looked startled, perhaps even nervious. Good.

"Ummm... I'm Clark. What's your name?"

He reached out to grab her and Diana jumped back in panic.

     "Stay back! Don't touch me!"

Diana swung the lamp hard but it shattered against the man's skin. She followed with a kick that sent a sharp pain through her leg.

Were men made of metal or something?

One thing living on Paradise Island had taught her well was to pick her battles and be patient. Diana wasn't going to beat the man head-on, but she could still get away and find help. She just had to wait for an opening.

As Diana retreated, nursing her injuries, the man pulled a device from his pocket and spoke to it. The reply was too soft to make out but the man's response was immediate. He spoke a few words in increasing volume, that made Diana flinch and press farther against the wall, then gave a growl of annoyance.

Diana was no closer to understanding what was going on than before, but she knew one thing: the soon she got out of here, the better.
