"Huh, what do you mean, resistance?" I asked, still not knowing what the fuck was going on.

"We are fighting against the government of Laser City because they are only serving themselves not the actual citizens," Kieran tried to explain to me.

"Wait, where the hell at you talking about?" I asked still extremely confused.

"Amnesia," Kieran muttered, "you don't remember anything do you?"

"Remember what?"

"Your past, before you came here."

"I, uh... no I don't."

"It's OK, we'll explain everything to you," Kimiko told me. She helped me up onto my feet and looked me up and down, "we'll also have to get you new clothes."

"OK that would help," I said looking at my tattered jeans and hoodie, "where do we start?"

Kimiko lead me to a room full of closets and trunks of clothes and shoes. OK so this the room where they keep spare clothes, all right. Kimiko looked at me again, judging my size to figure out what clothes to get me.

"You seem about the same size as Tara, Holly so we'all start with that,"
She laid out an outfit for me that consisted of, a pair of black skinny jeans covered in patches of punk bands, (not bad) a Green Day vest top ( how did they know that Green Day was my favourite band?), a pair of combat boots, a pair of fingerless biker gloves and leather jacket with an x-eyed skull on the back. Girl got style.

"You look like you'd wear this," Kimiko said interrupting my train of thought. I nodded and started to get changed. When I finished Kimiko took my old clothes and threw them in an incinerator in the corner of the room which I hadn't noticed.

"What if I need those?" I asked her, she looked at me and said, "you won't anymore." K.

We're also going to give you a makeover so if we go into the city no one will recoginze you," she said as she lead me to a barbers chair and made me sit down. Kimiko brought over a tray of hairdressing tools and a photobook of styles.

"OK now you pick what you want," she said combing my already short hair. I looked through the pictures and decided on a mohawk, I've always wanted one of these but was never allowed. Kimiko looked over my shoulder and at the picture.

"Yeah, you'd suit that, with your kinda square jaw and angular face," she said and added "not a lot of people can pull that off."

Kimiko got straight to work shaving the sides of my head, the hair falling around my shoulders. When she finished shaving the sides, Kimiko trimmed my fringe and hair that was left making it choppy and spiky. Then she consulted me about dying my hair and I said yes, as I was a big fan of hair dye, we decided on the sides being neon green and the middle jet black (emo as fuck, I know). Kimiko got to work on bleaching the sides as my hair was naturally a dark brown. As the black dye was processing on my head, Kimiko (I'm going to call her Kim) pierced my left nostril with a ring and the right side of my lower lip twice with rings too. The piercings didn't really hurt but they did sting a little when Kim dabbed antiseptic on them.

" OK, now onto the green now," Kim said as she washed out the black dye and put on the green. We talked about music and stuff we liked and, I was surprised to learn that she was a nirvana fan too. When we washed out the green dye, Kim got me in front of a mirror to look at the new me, I looked like a girl from my dreams, a girl who I wanted to be.

"What do you think?" Kim asked me looking at my reflection in the mirror too.

"I fucking love it."

When we got back to the others, everybody stopped to stare at me.

"Woah, Holly you look completely different," said Conner, in awe.

"Yeah, you guys like it?" I asked. The whole group chorused, "hell yeah!"

"OK, can someone please explain what's going on?" I asked. Conner cleared his throat and began to speak in an Irish accent,
"We are a resistance fighting against a company named Evolve, who have taken away mutant's rights and are using them as weapons." Wait what.

"Mutants?"

"Yeah, we're all mutants and we've escaped from the scientists who want to make us into something we're not."

At that moment, I had a flashback to when I read some papers about me, it said I had avian DNA in my blood. If I'm a mutant then, I concentrated as hard as I could, and a searing pain shot through me, I had never felt anything like this.

The others looked in awe as a pair of hawk's wings spread out from my back. When the pain subsided, I looked at what had pushed its way out my back. A pair of seven foot wide hawk's wings, with hundreds of shades of brown, gold and dark red making the feathery down.

"Holly, you're a hawk girl," said Tara when she managed to get out of the shock of my wings appearing.

"Yeah, pretty cool right?" was my reply. Everybody nodded, still in shock and awe.

"Holly Tennant, we want you to fight for the resistance, and if you do we can help you get your memory back."
