"Hey buddy," Matt said. "Gosh. Did you grow over night? When I left you were to my waist. Now you're as tall as me."

I chuckled and stood up. Matt got to his feet and I realized he's right. We're the same night and he's 18. He reached over and wiped my eyes and I followed him out of the treehouse. I jumped to the ground and stared at mom who had a small baby bump.

"Uhh y-you're pregnant again?" I asked, shocked.

Matthew slapped the back of my head and mom nodded her head.

"Yeah. You were too upset to notice and your father and I didn't want to bother you," mom told me.

My face instantly went red and I felt guilty for not noticing. She told me it's alright and the four of us walked inside. I went up to my room, changed out of my school clothes into dress pants and a blue shirt. I went downstairs and I saw that everyone else was wearing black.

"Adam go upstairs and change," mom told me.

I shook my head and mom gave me the look. I sighed heavily in frustration and ran upstairs. I swore I heard mom say something about leaving me out in the streets and I knew she was just upset. A few minuets later, I walked back downstairs wearing a tuxedo.

"There. Are you happy now?" I asked mom

"Adam don't use that tone. You know Brielle was the only family member with our bloodline," dad said.

"Was?! Dad. There's another kid coming in eight months! Why do I have to come if we're not related by blood?" I asked.

Matt took mom to the car and dad grabbed me by my shirt collar. He looked upset and sad and the same time.

"Because you're my son not by adoption," Dad said in a low voice.

That confused me.

"How? M-my dad was your best friend and-"

"I got your real mother pregnant with you after she married Jonathan," dad explained, "Jon hated that so we never talked again. Besides, I know who murdered them and your sister."

I suddenly became interested in who killed my family, not caring that my real mom committed adultery. I asked him who killed them and he just sighed and walked away. I followed and still pestered him with questions until he told me to shut up. I didn't shut up and kept bugging him as we walked up the stairs to the church. That's when he snapped.

"I said shut up Adam!" He yelled as he pinned me against the wall. "you are still a child and you don't need to go after a murder."

"Dad I-I'm twelve and a half. And a long time ago Gabriella told me I think like an adult and I'm smart," I said with my voice shaking from fear. "Please. I need to know who killed my parents and Brielle."

Dad glared at me and people were looked at us strangle. He let go and was angry the rest of the funeral. I didn't pay much attention to the funeral since I was figuring out who could've killed my real family. I did this for four hours. Three hours at the funeral and one hour at home. I called Anna, Austin, Andy and Tony over and we all went upstairs.

"Matthew?" I asked as I went into his room without knocking. He looked at me and I ignored the fact that Randy was in the room shirtless. "I need your help."

Matt stood up and put his shirt back on.

"Whatda need Adam?" He asked.

I closed the door incase dad walked by.

"I need your help figuring out who murdered my family," I said.

That's when Matt's face went as white as a sheet. I knew he was hiding something and he quickly agreed to help. I gave them a brief overview of what'll happen. We'll drive to Ottumwa, Iowa, look in some old files and go to the house to figure out who the murder is. We were already driving when I hope and prayed that we'd find whoever killed my real family soon before anyone knows we're missing.
