Hermione's PovWe ended up moving into the kitchen once the fire had started getting a bit too warm. Despite it being so late, I don't think anyone felt tired at all.
Every time I looked at Ginny, she looked interested and for the first time in a long time ... intrigued. Her and Blaise were certainly hitting it off.
To be fair, tonight was definitely a bit different than I'm sure either of us were expecting it to be. The other two were really polite and well-spoken.
I smiled and looked down at the counter in front of me.
Especially Malfoy.
"Granger?'
I felt my heart jump and I looked up into those grey eyes. I shook my head and blinked, "What? Sorry, I don't think I heard what you said."
Ginny gave me a knowing glance. I could feel my face starting to warm up and I cursed myself for not paying attention.
He looked down at the counter as he picked at something I couldn't see. "What I was saying," He said matching my gaze with a small grin on his face, "was that I'm surprised you haven't tried to hex me just yet."
"Oh," I laughed, smoothing over my shirt. "Well you haven't given me a reason to."
Malfoy smirked as Blaise nudged him, "Fair enough."
To my left, Ginny turned back and forth in her chair and let out a little giggle. Causing the other two boys to look up at her.
"What's got you laughing Red?" Blaise asked, leaning forward against the counter.
I followed his gaze and raised my eyebrows at my mischievous friend. There was no way this was gonna be good.
The last time someone asked her that question, it was my dad at dinner one night and for half an hour, I had to sit and listen as Ginny tried to explain to my parents what Wrackspurts were without bursting out in laughter
She stopped moving and rested her chin on her knee as she looked over at Blaise
"I was just remembering that one time Hermione broke your friend's nose."
She laughed as I tried to slap her arm, hopping off the stool from behind the counter and running around the other side of the counter between us.
Malfoy smirked and looked down at the counter while Blaise still kept his eyes on Ginny. "Wait, I'm confused." He turned to face Malfoy, "Who's nose did she break?"
Ginny howled with laughter, "You don't know?!"
I put my face in my arms and tried to hide my blushing and the stupidly large smile that had grown on my face.
"NO!" He laughed, looking back at Ginny.
"Well ..." She said, leaning towards him on the island counter, "You should ask the person involved about it."
He smirked and leaned in a little more, looking over at me from the center of the kitchen, "So Granger, who'd you beat up?"
I sat up in my seat and cleared my throat, quickly glancing at Malfoy whose eyes were still looking down at the counter.
"Well, it was actually-"
"Me."
Malfoy smiled and looked up at the rest of us, ignoring his friend who was now hunched over wheezing. I bit my lip and looked down at my feet.
