"the time for finding a partner is now over."

"you guys, you're all making a big mistake." minyeo screamed once she realized that she was the only one left without a partner. "do you really think you can win without me on your team? it's me, han minyeo! i've made suckers out of everyone there is from dongducheon to gangnam!"

"shut up bitch." hangyeol groaned as him and eunji made their way to the entrance of where they'd play.

suddenly, minyeo ran towards people, begging to let her be with them. "eunji!" she cried and held onto her arm. "come on, you like girls don't you? let me be with you!"

eunji didn't know what to say. she opened her mouth to say something but one of the guards grabbed hold of her and pulled her away as eunji and hangyeol walked through the door.

but before they could go anywhere else, eunji felt someone tug at her arm. looking up, she saw saebyeok glaring at hangyeol.

"your partnered up with him?" she asked, narrowing her eyes down at eunji. the girl let out a soft sigh and held onto saebyeok's hand. "i had to partner up with someone... i'll be fine, and so will you hopefully." she smiled

saebyeok huffed and sent a death glare at hangyeol. "be careful. you don't know what he's capable of."

suddenly, the woman's voice was heard and was instructing everyone to follow a guard that was assigned to them.

eunji and hangyeol followed around the staff through a place that looked familiar. there were many fake houses scattered around the room and street lamps.

after a few minutes, the man came to an abrupt halt and turned around to face the two.

"players, please take one bag each from the staff member before you."

the man in red held his hands up and handed the pair two bags. when the bag was placed in eunji's hand, she couldn't help but feel what was inside. it felt like marbles.

"there should be a set of ten marbles in each bag. please check to confirm the number."

eunji emptied the marbles into the palm of her hand and began to count them. there were 10.

glancing up at hangyeol, she saw that he was too counting his with a smirk on his face.

"in this game, using your set of ten marbles, you will play the game of your choice with your partner. the player who manages to take all ten marbles from their partner wins."

eunji's heart dropped. saebyeok and jiyeong were partners. her girlfriend and one of her only friends in the place. realization hit her like a tone of bricks when she looked up at hangyeol who had a smug grin on his lips.

the countdown began and eunji let out a sigh. "so, what should we play?" she asked the man as she turned to face him.

he shrugged, "i don't know. i don't wanna play that 'odd, even' game. i was never good at that." he shook his head and sat down on a curb.

"so," he began, licking his lips. "i want to know why you stole from me." eunji rolled her eyes and sat down on the opposite curb. eunji didn't have an exact reason why she took the money.
