"Hey babe!" Chandler says, planting a kiss on my cheek. He takes his seat next to me, "Hey!"
I smile back at him.
"What'd you do last night?" he asks.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
"Uh. . .", I swallow loudly, "Just watched a movie with Tas." I smile, nodding my head. "Fun." Chandler raises an eyebrow at me, then starts unpacking his backpack.
Great. Way to stay chill, Ariana.
The classroom door swings open, and Melina walks in. Melina? I forgot she even went here, I haven't seen her in so long!
"Melina!" I shout across the room. She turns her head towards me, only to shoot me a quick but noticeable death glare.
What the hell was that?
She takes her seat and doesn't turn to look at me again. I ignore it and start unpacking my bag. Finally, Ms. Heznas walks in and begins teaching class. I notice that Sam hasn't arrived to class yet. He's never late. Then again, he has apparently been leading this double bad boy life that I never knew about. Who knows what he's doing?
My mind keeps flashing back to last night. I wonder if Chandler's noticed my continuous pencil tapping for about the last twenty minutes because I haven't.
About half way through class and scribbling down notes, the door to the classroom swings open loudly and in walks Sam. Everyone stares as he takes his seat and drops his bag to the floor and begins quietly unpacking it.
Ms. Heznas finally asks, "Samuel Gates, where have you been? Do you have a pass?" Sam looks up groggily with heavy bags under his eyes and replies, "No Ms. Heznas I was just up really late last night and thought I should get the correct amount of sleep which meant I would have to miss part of this class. But now I'm here."
Some of the kids chuckle quietly at his sarcasm. But not me. Sam quickly turns around and winks before unpacking the last of his stuff and setting it on his desk. Faces turn towards me and I feel my own face getting hot.
"Alright, Mr. Gates," Ms. Heznas butts in, finally breaking the silence of the class, "you will be receiving a tardy then if you do not have a pass."
"Okay." Sam simply replies and leans back in his chair, arms crossed.
Chandler leans over to me and whispers, "Why did he just wink at you?" in a stern voice.
"It's just a joke." I reply quietly. I see Chandler shift in his seat, rubbing his palms on his pants, "Babe." I whisper.
"It's fine. It's. . .it's fine." he says, and we drop the conversation, not talking the rest of the period. After class is over, we all leave, and no one says a word to eachother.
I can practically taste the tension. And it's killing me.

During lunch I decide to eat outside. Alone. But it's nice out, and I'm actually barely ever outside, besides the times Tas and I come out to smoke every once in a while. I sit at a table thats shaded by a tree, and eat alone.
No one comes up to talk to me. Some people walk by and give me a shady look and then I'll hear them whispering something to eachother as they walk past.
Who knows what they know? Im "all the talk of the school" now. Which is wonderful, of course.
After I throw my tray away, I walk a little further from the school considering that I have about fifteen minutes of Lunch time left yet. I pull the extra pack of cigarrettes that Tasia gave me, out of my bag. I don't smoke all that often so I wouldn't call myself an addict, but every once and awhile. I light the cigarrette in my mouth, taking a long drag.
