okay Katie are you ready to go to school andy asked her daughter. mommy I don't feel good Katie whined. Andy knew it was unlikely for her daughter to be complaining unless something really hurt so she went upstairs to grab a thermometer. oh my goodness your hot andy said placing her daughter on her bed. so looks like no school for you today andy said as she stroked her daughters hair. mommy can I sleep in your bed Katie asked. Yeah go get some rest I'll be up there to cuddle with you in a little I just have to call auntie maya first okay? Okay mommy Katie said yawning. Hey andy where are you shifts about to start maya asked concerned on the other end of the phone. I need you to tell captain I can't come in today Katie's got a fever of 100.2 and I'm debating wether or not to take her to grey Sloan andy said. Why can't Ryan take her maya asked. He is in San Diego with his new girlfriend andy responded. Okay I'll tell captain but he won't be to happy maya said. Yeah I know but I have to do what's best for Katie andy said before hanging up the phone. Andy made her way to her bedroom she saw Katie all snuggled up in the blankets. Andy went to lay by her and placed a kiss on her forehead now realizing she is warmer. andy picked up Katie and took her outside and put her in her car seat and drove to grey Sloan. Hey captain can I talk to you a minute maya asked Sullivan as he was reading a book in the beanery. Sure what's up bishop. Sullivan responded sounding very uninterested. Well it's uh andy maya responded nervously. What's wrong with Herrera Sullivan spat back. Well she won't be here today maya said why not Sullivan looking up now that maya got his attention. Well I'm not sure your aware but andy has the sweetest three year old girl named Katie maya said trying to avoid the fact the Katie is in the hospital. Um no I had no idea Herrera had a kid Sullivan said. Well her daughter Katie is currently at grey Sloan memorial hospital with a super high fever. Oh my Sullivan said tell Herrera to take all the time she needs Sullivan said with a smile. Thank you sir will do oh and if you want to join us the team is visiting Katie after shift maya said. I'll think about it thanks bishop Sullivan said. Andy was now propped up in a hospital bed by her sleeping toddler. When the team arrived hi guys thanks for coming andy said. no problem but what's wrong with my favorite neice Travis asked. well the doctors think it's appendicitis and they are going to take her into the OR in a couple of hours andy said but you could tell she was scared. After visiting for a while the team left but Sullivan stayed to ask Andy about her leave due to her daughters need for recovery after the surgery. so Herrera Sullivan asked. Andy Herrera said. excuse me Sullivan asked taken back by her comment. Call me Andy we're outside of work andy said with a smile. Okay andy Sullivan started how long do you need Sullivan asked. Well they say it's about a three week recovery period so probably like three or four weeks andy replied. okay that's all I needed Sullivan walked out with a smile. Okay after Katie's surgery had finished the whole team came over to see her when she woke up but Sullivan was the first to arrive. I was laying in bed with Katie when a nurse came in and asked me if we were up for any visitors. Glady I said yes I needed other human contact than dr. Robbins in peds. how is she doing Sullivan asked as he walked in the hospital room. well she is fine but I'm such a train wreck Andy laughed. Sullivan just laughed then watched the interaction between Andy and her daughter usually Andy was so tough and put together but right now she was vulnerable and scared and it was obvious. so how is the station doing andy asked breaking the comfortable silence. uhm well it's not the same without you but we've managed Sullivan chuckled. Andy just smiled so Herrera I didn't know you were in a relationship Sullivan said nonchalantly. Oh I'm not Andy laughed I could see why you thought that though Katie's dad was my childhood best friend and we were dating for a while but he.. he got violent towards me due to a drinking proplem and I have full custody of Katie Andy said like it was no big deal. omg Andy I'm so sorry Robert said compassionately. It's in the past andy said. After Robert went home that night all he could think about was Andy and Katie and he was remembering how relived he was when she said she was single. I was laying in the hospital bed with Katie as she started to fall asleep and I kept thinking about Robert how he smiled and how he was genuinely concerned for my daughter I had felt this way towards him a lot like sometimes on shift I would catch myself finding the dumbest excuses to ask him a question just to see him. Andy and Robert both just lay awake wondering about each other. Today Katie got discharged and Pruitt came over to watch Katie so Andy could get some "work" done. As Andy pulled up to roberts house she wasn't sure if this was the right choice I mean he was her captain and he might be dating someone she never asked. And what if he didn't feel the same way. But Andy pushed these thoughts aside and knocked on the door. I was in my living room when I heard a quiet knock on my door when I opened the door andy was there before I could even say anything she started talking. When Robert opened the door I didn't even let him get a word in before I started rambling. i -i can't pretend this is anything and I don't know how you feel but i-i love you and I can't pretend I don't and- before Andy could continue she saw roberts face blank oh my god I just did that I'm so sorry Andy said Turing away embarrassed when she felt a strong arm pull her into a kiss only breaking for air when he pulled away I love you Robert simply stated. and just smiled.
