Stacey's POV (Stacey is pretending as Stephie)

"Harmon, I made a terrible mistake earlier" Dane said, looking at my half dried skirt. I noticed the guilt which was trapped in his down cast eyes.

"Alright, Apology accepted" I said as I didn't want to make his life miserable or at least he knew how to apologize. "Hope you would not make a lab rat out of me again. Just call me S-T... no, never mind " I said while taking the next test tube to wash. He grinned in reply and started washing the beakers.

"Sadie, can you pass me the beakers and flasks?" Amelia asked the blond girl after placing the last test tube rack inside the cabinet.

After an exhausting thirty minutes clean, the laboratory was spotless. We finally got permission to go home after the razor sharp eyes of Mr. Robertson was failed to find anything reckless.

"He did it on purpose. He knew that it was just an accident. He always find a reason to pick on me just because I suck at his lessons" Sadie whined while we were heading to the parking lot. Amelia gave her a sympathetic smile.

"Want to hangout at my place?" Dane asked from us while unlocking his car doors.

"I'm in even if you don't ask me to" Sadie said playfully. "I was asking from Amelia and Harmon " he rolled his eyes. "I know. I know. Just call her Stephie already. I don't see any reason to not go with the first name basis" she smirked.

"May be next time. I guess. I should go home" I said and he wasn't pleased by my reply. "Are you still mad at me?" he looked bit hurt.  "No...no...nothing like that. I just have to catch up with my missed lessons. And all of these are still new to me" I replied immediately to assure him.

"Since you are new to this town, shouldn't you worry about making friends than the missed lessons?" Sadie made a point.

"Sometimes all we need is a friend to rely on; specially in an unfamiliar place."

"This is the first time that I'm meeting someone who doesn't want to hangout with Dane in his place" she added.  'Is that a good thing or a bad thing?' I wanted to ask but decided to keep it to myself.

"Oh! If I recall it correct, we have to submit the pair work before next Thursday." he said looking at me. I knitted my eyebrows as it didn't ring my bells about Stephie mentioning a pair work.

"We have to write a book review on 'The Scarlet Letter' Have you read that one before?" he asked. "Not really" I replied.

"Holy Crap! Now that you mentioned it, I have only read the first chapter of 'The Great Gatsby' and totally forgot to ask Zander to read it" Sadie gasped.

"You can borrow mine, if you want. I finished reading it last night." he offered. "Looks like you have to come with us though" he smirked.

"Alright then" I said making his grin grow wider.

I walked down the parking lot to reach my sister's car which was parked in the far corner. While making my way to the car, I got caught up with the things happened on my very first day which nearly made me to knock down this person who was in a black leather jacket.

"I'm so sorry" I apologized and he nodded in a haste while adjusting his black cap to cover more of his face. His yellowish teeth was barely visible and I managed to get a glimpse of the cut on his face below his lower lips. He sped away towards the school.

'He was weird' I thought looking back. 'May be he's working here' I thought as he was heading towards the school.

My eyes searched for the weirdo but he has already disappeared. As I reached the exit, Sadie put her head out of the window and screamed, "Follow us" I gave a quick horn signal as a reply.

After taking some turns in left and right, we arrived at a three storied house with a  comparatively large front garden. The water was busy making there own waterfalls in the white fountain. Dane parked his car in the car porch and instructed me to park mine near the pool and Amelia parked hers behind mine. I totally got why the people had never said no to him. The reason was right before my eyes. Counting the newly found personality of the person who live here, it told me that this was an eventful place.

"I'm home" he announced while entering and lead us to the living room. Sadie crashed into the sofa even before Dane asked us to.

"So...."Amelia said trying to start the conversation.

"I'll bring some snacks from the kitchen" Sadie offered, standing from the sofa and smoothing her skirt. "Nothing good comes to my mind when I have an empty stomach" she giggled while heading to the kitchen. Dane arrived back holding the book; 'The Scarlet Letter'

"Thanks again." I said placing it carefully in my backpack making sure that  the cover didn't get any folds.

"Hope you read fast. Unless we will run out of time" he said, making a serious face. 'Oh! this guy cares about grades too?' I asked myself while nodding. "And no dog ears!"

Sadie returned with handful of snacks and a lady who looked like in early thirties followed by carrying a tray of fruit juice. I raised my head when she reached where Amelia and I were sitting.  My gaze was locked on her face while my mind was wandering whether it was his mom. And then again, she can't be that young. Could she?

"Are you okay with passion juice?" she asked flashing a smile.

"Yeah thanks" I said half embarrassed.

"She always asks that when someone new arrives" Sadie said placing her Cola Can on the stool beside her.

"You don't like them?" I asked out of curiosity.

"She has the latex allergy" Dane offered making me blink. "Yeah! I'm rare animal" she laughed and I gave her a smile not knowing how to react.

"You are pretty impressive. Aren't you? Remembering every petty detail about your girlfriend" I asked trying to divert the attention.

"ME? His GIRLFRIEND???" Sadie burst into a laugh. "Me and him? Dating?" she finally uttered after failing to stop her laughter for the millionth time. "You got it all wrong. He is my bestfriend! We grew up together ever since I can remember."

I looked at my wrist watch when I noticed the sun rays were fleeing. I had lost the track of time laughing to Sadie's jokes. "I should probably go home now" I said picking up my backpack and the notes which Amelia lend  to me.

"You have curfew at 6 p.m.?" Sadie asked making a horror struck face.

"Not exactly. But my dad will be worried if I wasn't home when he arrives." I replied.
