Chapter Seven

*Roses POV*
I woke up to my phone ringing on my side table by my bed. I checked it and it was an unknown number. I answered it anyway.
"Hello" I said.

"Is this Rose Blanchard?"

"Yes... May I ask who's calling?"

"I'm the doctor you spoke to yesterday, about your friend Matthew Espinosa, Dr.Smith, I was just calling to tell you that he has woken up from his coma if you would like to come see him."

I was speechless. Matthew is finally awake!!

"Thank you so much that's great! I'll be there as soon as I can!"

I hung up the phone and jumped out of bed. I can't wait to see Matthew, but I'm super worried that he won't remember me.

what if he doesn't remember when we where friends?

What if he thinks I'm there to hurt him just like I used to with Carter?

Enough Rose just calm down and get ready.

I took my shower and got dressed in some light wash skinny jeans, a maroon sweater, a gold necklace with a big charm, and my black dr.martens. Then I combed my long dirty blonde hair and put it in a French braid. Matt always used to say it was pretty like that. I applied some light makeup and headed out the door.

"Mom I'm going out, I'll be back at 3:00." I yelled.

"Ok sweetie have fun!" She replied.

I arrived at the hospital and the same lady was at the desk. She smiled at me and told me to head on up.

My stomach flopped in the elevator. I am so excited to see Matt. it feels like forever since I've talked to him.

I walked down the hall and saw Matt's room.

I took a deep breath and opened the door.

Matt had his back turned to the door.

"Um, Matt?" I stuttered. gosh I probably sound like an idiot.

He turned around and looked me in the eyes. Gosh his eyes are perfect.

"Rose? What are you doing here? Did Carter send you to beat me up? Jus-just get it over with already."

"What? Matt no I would never do that. I'm just here to talk to you. Is that ok? I mean if it's not ok then I'll just leave. I'm sorry."

I turned around to leave but he stopped me.

"Rose wait, I'm sorry I didn't know. I guess I'm just not used to people actually wanting to talk to me. you can come sit here if you want."

He said motioning towards the chair next to him.

I gave him a small smile and sat down in the chair.

Well this is awkward.

"Matt listen, I'm really sorry for breaking our promise."

Matt looked confused.

"What promise?" He asked.

"The one we made in seventh grade. To be best friends forever. I broke it.

I'm really sorry Matt. I'm even more sorry for bullying you. I shouldn't have done it, but I was afraid that if I didn't it would have ruined my reputation.

I realize how stupid that was now. I just want to be friends again. and to help you. Matt, do you except my apology?"

We sat there in silence for a moment.

"I except your apology Rose. no one has ever reached out to me like that."

I smiled and gave him a hug.

"Oh and Matt by the way, I dumped Carter."

"Well," he smiled, "I guess that means that the team is back in action."

I laughed. I really missed this kid.
